Lol, this is an interesting idea o_o;

in my country. Canada, the 2nd largest country in the world, one of the "first" world countries as well....

yet we only have the population of 33million people o_o; If a thing like that, comes out, it may lower birth rate; and thats' not a good thing for Canada .________. because we need "younger" people, our average age keeps going up and up...we need babies to lower that average age.

but thats' only for Canada, for the places like, er...America, it may be a good idea to have that program, considering their gun rate, abuse rate, killing rate anddd death rate is way higher than Canada >_< not that i'm saying america isn't safe or w/e, its one of the best countries in the world! Though yeah, not that i know much about the "rates" there....but I do know the Rates are 100% higher than Canada....Maybe just having a "license" for America wouldn't be such a bad idea =)

but thats' just a theory, not backed up by any facts aside from the "fact" that their death/birth/gun crime/crime rates are much higher than Canada xD

but really, I don't have much objective on this matter ._.

In theory it may sound good but would it actually work in practice?

As for my personal opinion all I have to say it's dumb because it probably won't work.

I also agree with tobydiah.

Using this logic we would also need licenses for sex.

Silly idea.

And if you're pregnant or are the father or a child and fail the test, what happens to the kid? Maybe call Angelina and Brad.. but most likely it will be a heavy burden on tax payers.

lisense for sex, no.
lisense to be a parent, absolutley.
people running around having babies and not taking care of then is just messed up!
there should be a judicial department where you have to get a lisense to breed! in fact everyone should just stop having children for 10 years then start reproducing again...

Yeah... well you're contradicting yourself.

You said no for a license for sex, but yes to a license for breeding?

I have never thought of that before, i don't think it should prove wether or not your a suitable parent but information you might need... kinda like a handbook some people buy.

there are these cool things you can by like EVERYWHERE they are called condoms! they have a really neat function you use them when you want to have sex but not get pregnent.

Being a parent is not easy, so do u think that people shud pass some exams so they are allowed to be a parent? wud it be too controlling? cud it make life better for children?

Its idiotic and a lot of single mothers or troubled parents have their lives changed by having a child. So no they should not have to take a dumbass exam to be a parent. Being a good parent and giving a child love and compassion cant be comprehended on a piece of paper filling in bubbles/dashes.

Someone didn't pay attention in sex ed. Condoms aren't 100% effective and many people don't use them correctly, for example wrong size or perhaps even the condom breaking. The only to prevent pregnancy 100% is abstinence.

birth control+condoms=pretty much no babies.
i havent taken sex ed yet.
oh yeah i totaly forgot about abstinence! but im going to guess that the majority of the population doesn't have enough self control for that.... another problem is the whole one night stand thing you should totaly have to wait till your married to have sex.

Hmm does being a parent all about knowing what a good parent should be? Theres is no point giving a license to something as fundamental as parenting because each parent has their own method, what makes a parent "parent" is the amount of unconditional love they have for their children. Having a license question the morale and freedom of individual preferences, I just find that wrong.

I think that there are some parents that are so bad they should have their kids taken away from them, but liscensing it will have the opposite effect...

Like when the US banned Alcohol, the problem just got worse. There would just be a huge underground network of parents (most being normal couples, that due to some circumstances didnt get the liscence...) It would also not be very well policed either, nobody wants to break up a family...

For all the pro-life people on here, you reaaaaally want people to give parenting licences on here, huh? So, I see it as this, a woman goes to the doctor, doctor discovers she is pregnant, and she and her lover/babys father/spouse are forced to take a test on their parenting skills. They fail, the baby would be aborted, the male is given a Vasectomy, and the woman is given a Hysterectomy no questions asked. This would probobly be the ONLY way to prevent those "unfit" to be parents. They may carry the baby to term, but who is to know if the woman fights back, crazed to have a baby, and takes it, and runs of it it. The only 100% sure proof way is too do it this way. (If she doesn't go to the doctor, we install tracking devices into ALL pregnancy tests that run the information back to a reserch lab. If it proves positives, they send doctors to administer the test).

even if u get a licen how can u prove that they will be a good parent ??? u can't use a pieace of paper to prove if u r a good parent or not just like a drivers licen so many people passed but y r there still drunk driving, and car accidents i say just let them be if they want to be a good parent i dont think a piece of paper will affect much and if they dont even if they got the piece of paper they will still abuse their childen !
