This isn't new, quite old actually, but their progress was finally worth mentioning so I decided to post it here.

If you've been dying for a NA Release date of ToV for PS3, you may be daydreaming (I could be wrong) but even Tales of Graces F which came later is coming out in NA without the slightest news on the part of ToV.

Instead, a group of people worked on a translation patch for the game, which sadly, requires your PS3 to have a homebrew in order to use the patch (which isn't out yet, the patch that is). Sadly, this may be my ultimate obstacle unless I can get a huge bargain for a 2nd PS3 that I'd just hack for those purposes.

They've just recently finished the translation at 100%, they are now verifying if the content is well translated and fix any errors/bugs they find in the process.

They also got some proof footage, here's the three most recent.

Needless to say, they also had a Tales of Graces F project in the making, but Bandai cut it loose by announcing their official NA release, and so then they dropped the project.

So to all the people who never had a chance to play Tales of Vesperia, or those who, like me, thrives to see the differences and extras from the Xbox 360 release, this may be your chance! If you didn't play the Japanese version as of yet of course.

Feel free to fill me in with any extra info you may have, or just share your thoughts on this awesome project.

This is insanely convenient. I could actually handwave this as fate. I bought a JAP version of vesperia on the 24th. Don't know what a homebrew is, or how I could acquire one. Any explanation available? I'm not that tech savvy, unfortunately.

Thank you for the notice, by the way. I didn't even know there was a translation. This amde my day ten times over.

Homebrew is technically hacking your Playstation 3 in order to unlock some features, and can only be done on the ones with versions 3.55 or older. It also blocks you from any Playstation services, including Store, Network and such. It's really inconvenient and can cause your console to break and isn't something to play with but it's the only way for a translation patch to be applied sadly, unless, of course, Bandai allows or buy the translation work and make it official which I doupt.

That's what I figured, though I didn't know what was required. (i.e. a patch of 3.55) and the circumstances it can cause. I don't know if actually getting a homebrew would be worth just one game. Even if I don't have PSN network right now, it doesn't mean I won't.

Yeah, would be nice if Bamco would pick up the translation patch, huh? I doubt it, since 80% of the time they're nonchalant about the other parts of the world.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out my PS3, hopefully it isn't updated enough for me to not crack it.

Meh, I'm not at all interested in the conversion to PS3, since I already have it on my 360. It was "meh" to me, one of the modern Tales games that I didn't bother to finish. I still like Abyss more than any other Tales game so far.
