If you want to build your muscles, take protein shakes/bars and excercise. Taking the proteins alone won't help unless you're just aiming on gaining some weight.

that the problem with protein shake. most people think that if you eat a lot and drink protein shake you gonna turn into batista or the rock. you can to take a large amount of protein but you have to watch what you eat or it will just going to turn into fat. my advise to you is to only take protein shake after a 20-60 min of workout and no more than 4 per day

well, i think 15 is young, i dont think its a good idea to drink protein shakes, cuz they just help u get fat, u get that fat and u turn it into muscle, but heres a side note, once u start using protein shakes, and get the results u want, u have to continue doing it, if u stop, your body will shrink and get weak, your body would get used to the strain you put in it, so i suggest eat foods that are rich in protein, a lot of people here in the post said a lot of good things, like fish, eggs, meats, well, any type of nuts, and taro, has the richest protein vegie i know, samoans are insanely strong because of this stuff, there are 2 types of samoans, one who is buff and powerful, fit, etc, and one who is humongous but ridiculously strong, all the taro they eat, lol, i dont know, thats just from experience, i know a lot of em that eat this stuff daily

Not sure about the effects of a protein shake on a growing child, but I thought they were for people working out? Drink it after a workout and keeps something in your muscles or something or rather, and helps make the muscle bigger.
Emphasis that protein shakes don't give you muscles. Working out does. The shakes help.
If you're not working out regularly, I don't think you should bother. Eating a proper diet and regular exercise would be plenty for a 15 year old kid. That, and if you're working out already, don't. It'll stunt your growth and it really isn't worth it. (You probably know this already)
And an overly buff 15 year old is just what the shit?? So yeah, I suggest not to bother.

Though when I was 15 I was like screw it I'm gonna get buff.

You'd want some fat if you're bulking up. Probably too young to be doing this seriously though.

If you wanna lose fat, do cardio exercises. Stay away from weights and stuff like that (and the protein shakes), eat right, exercise regularly and you'll be pimp. Not sure how much 190 is in kilos and I can't be bothered googling so bleh.

Dunno how it's like over there, but when I was 15, I played Rugby League. Looking at the competition, I don't think you NEED to work out with protein shakes and all that serious business. Just have the right technique and the heart, and the stamina, and it'll be good
Again, I wouldn't know much, if anything, about the American Football community, but those paddings look quite reassuring.
Is safety the position that does basically everything/anything? Tight-end? (Eyeshield 21 + Madden ftw)

Is that okay for a 15 year old to be taking it? does it really help build muscle faster?

considering most people on cr are fat i don't really expect replies and if i get replies they'll probably be something gay just to rack up some cr points so pretty much if you can't answer either of the two questions don't reply

also to the smart asses out there who live to criticize me "you post random stuff" so replying on how i reply is another thing that isn't needed and probly some idiot will do that i'll edit that/those special idiot/idiots into the first page just to show you my awesome foreseeing abilities

i eat about 1200 calories a day because I'm trying to lose weight and force my body to use my fat as energy so i guess i eat normal amounts

In order for your body to start using fat for energy, you have to be physically active. It takes 20 minutes into the workout for your body to start burning fat as energy, so I suggest you eat a moderate meal with a lot of variety and just exercise. You have to find balance between diet and workout and you shouldn't rely on supplements because chances are, their effects are temporary/inconclusive/useless.

Believe it or not, the amount of protein you are eating now are more than likely OVER the amount recommended. Statistically, men take in too much protein as it is and still take protein shakes, meaning they are taking in about twice the amount or even more of what's recommended. Just take it easy, eat healthy and EXERCISE.

i took nutrition last semester btw. Just in case you have any doubts

are you a body builder? if you are, then drink that stuff after you work out, then work out again. if you want to gain muscle thats the way you get it. but protein shakes are for the pros. (when i mean pros, i mean they work out for like 3 hours non stop) if you want to look big and ugly then go for it.

Idiots to reply:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/user/eternitytofu-my reply (of course i'll go take cocaine even though i'm 15 years old maybe you like taking cocaine *makes sense considering the comment* but i don't want my iq to drop to the level of yours)

Honest opinion: Perfect example of how to create a thread where you come out attacking other people about people being "fat" (since the majority are girls) and practically asking people to criticize you by telling the world off before we even respond to you.

Anyway, I used to be pretty big into working out and playing sports so I worked out almost everyday and took supplements. But I say taking protein shakes on occasion is okay. You probably shouldn't take it daily until you hit 17-19 since you're body is still developing and you don't want it to get used to it or mess up for when you get a bit older. 1200 calories is too restrictive. It's gonna mess with your muscles, brain development, screw up your hormones, growth, not to mention eating that little actually makes u lose less fat than eating a well regulated, healthy diet. At 1200 calories, you're gonna be losing some fat so guess what the other stuff are that you're losing? Muscle tissue and fluids. Stay away from protein bars and creatine, by the way. Add fish oil, vitamins, and flaxseed to your diet if you're really want to put everything into it.
