Otakon is only a day away and in celebration of Mr. Makoto Shinkai's appearance at Otakon, we will be giving his fans a special streaming of his film "5 Centimeters Per Second" right here on Crunchyroll.
5 Centimeters Per Second will be available on Crunchyroll from Friday, 7/29 - Sunday, 7/31 for US audiences only.

If you're attending Otakon, Mr. Makoto Shinkai will have a Special Autograph Session at the Bandai/Aniplex booth on Saturday, 7/29 from 1:30-2:30 EST. Tickets will be given to the first 100 people who purchase 5 Centimeters Per Second DVD from their booth

If you still haven't watched it yet, we will be featuring it as a daily deal from Friday, 7/29 - Sunday, 7/31 so be sure to get your copy before it's too late by clicking here!

Ironic thing is, I just bought the daily deal about a week ago in a trip to Best Buy. I really liked the DVD, but what I found really nice was the interviews and the special storyboard version that come as extras. This is my all-time favorite movie, and would like to give my compliments to Mr. Shinkai for such a great story. Rebuying the DVD again and having Shinkai singing it is a dream. His is by far my favorite anime director, surpassing Miyazaki as my previous favorite. Looks like I'm rewatching 5cm per second again this weekend!
