The first manga I read, Gunnm / Gun Dream. / Battle Angel Alita is now into volume 17 of the second series, Last Order so I have been reading it for 15-20 years as it started in 1991. I started out with English, then moved into Japanese as the wait for translations was too long and they changed more than was necessary which annoyed me.

5-6 years ago I got tired of waiting for the tankobons to come out so I started buying Ultrajump magazine where Gunnm was printed monthly until a year or two ago when it moved to Evening which is more difficult for me to get. I then branched out into the other series in the magazine which are in a similar genre. I bought tankobon of my favorite other series from the magazine to catch up on issues I has missed.

Just recently because of Crunchyroll I bought some Nazo no Kanojo X and Miniskirt Space Pirates manga and light novels to get ahead of the anime. Edit: Afternoon is Also seinen so I guess I haven't really branched out at all... So I am apparently celebrating twenty years of seinen manga.

My genre tastes have slowly changed. There were times when I was deeply fascinated with shoujo and shounen, but it's been years since then. Now I'm more likely to focus on seinen, as long as it doesn't focus too much on realism or grimdark-ness.

For years, I would only buy trade paperbacks if I were sincerely interested in the series, or if I already was a huge fan of the creator. Otherwise, I'd wait until they were available at local libraries before giving them more than a brief glance. Unfortunately, it seems like the era when every release would be on paper is over...

Hmm, I used to read primarily mystery-types and josei, and completely ignore action shounen titles or super-sparkly shoujo romance, especially if it was in a high-school setting, but now I'll read pretty much anything. In fact, one of my favorite genres is the slice-of-life school-types I used to loathe, and I really enjoy some shounen like Blue Exorcist.

I find the good in all manga

I pretty much read what sounds interesting to me. The only genre of anime I've never touch is yaoi.

Shounen...... slowly interest in Shoujo which a lot of comedy or slice of life. suddenly trapped in Doujinshi world because of SasuNaru, then turn into BL/Yaoi!!! And now Mostly BL/Yaoi and Shounen [which could born any new BL's couple] XD

I'll read whatever sounds interesting to me. Lately though, I've been reading harems.
