Kaede laughed to himself. What a strange girl....But she's interesting... She was so timid and shy that he couldn't help but smile and just wonder who she really was behind all this timidness. Kaede put his hands behind his head and looked up. "Hmm.....Sing Aimi-chan's favorite song?" He looked over at her and winked playfully.

"Well, There are so many songs I love...." She said, nervously. Looking down, I don't think he'd like it. I can't say it! she thought. She knew she needed to say something, and she knew it would have to be the truth. "Ummmm...Really? My Favorite?" she said, quivering, "Honestly I don't think you'd like it...."

Kaede grinned and laughed. "Well, I don't know if I will until I actually hear it." Kaede smiled and patted the tap of her head like he would a kid sister and said, "Don't worry about it. You sing for me when you want to." He stood up and stretched his arms out wide, putting them behind his head.

"Oh, ok" Aimi said with a sigh of relief. She stood up, leaving her books and papers in a neat stack on the ground. She somehow managed a smile and looked up at him, "What instrument do you play?" She asked sweetly, hoping to mask the fact that she was still a little shaken.

Kaede smiled proudly and laughed. "I play the piano. Cool, huh?" He looked up, thinking. "I started playing when I was a kid. No, they want me to learn the violin as well." He let out a deep sigh and rolled his eyes. "They want me to be just like my big bro, but we're nothing alike." Kaede shook his head and smiled, turning his attention back to Aimi. "How long have you been singing?"

Aimi looked up at the sky and smiled, thinking about all the times she sang as a carefree little girl. "Well..." she said, looking at Kaede,"I guess I started singing when I was around 3 or 4, my nanny used to sing to me all the time, especially when I was worried or afraid." Aimi sighed at the memory, she shook her head, and laughed a little, "Every time she sang, it made me smile. I was always amazed at how her singing made me feel. So I started singing the same songs she sang to me." Aimi's eyes lit up the same way they always did when she was talking about singing or anything else she loved."When I got a little older, I realized that I wanted to make other people smile when they are feeling down the same way my nanny did for me." She could have gone on for hours, she had so many thoughts that nobody had ever heard because they were never interested in what [she thought. She was happy that she could share these thoughts and hoped that Kaede was at least remotely interested in what she had to say. Now he probably thinks I'm a freak! she thought, suddenly becoming self-conscious, she looked down, embarrassed.

Kaede smiled and noticing her embarrassment, he sat down next to her and turned his whole attention on her. "Your lucky. Having a drive to make other people happy is amazing." He grinned. "I'm impressed. You had someone there for you. My story is totally different." Kaede felt himself frowning and closing his eyes, already becoming annoyed. "My parents were strict and always wanted me to be like my brother. Always comparing me to him. It was annoying, but if they hadn't driven me away, then I would have never found my true calling and that's piano." Kaede sighed and leaned back against the tree and looking up at the blue sky. "My butler, William, always supported me. He was the only one. There was him, a piano, and me. That's pretty much all there was to it back then." Kaede simply shrugged his shoulders as if he didn't have a care in the world, but deep down inside, it bugged him and made him feel uneasy.

Aimi looked at him. She sighed, not knowing what to say. So she smiled and said, "I'm really glad you found your calling." Her face grew solemn and she continued "Your story is different, but I know what it's like to have your parents wanting you to be something you're not..." at this point, she really didn't know why she was telling him this but it was too late for her to take the words back, "Since I was little, my parents drilled into my head that I had to be the perfect model girl, so that's what I became." She swallowed, nervous again.. "I had to go to parties, balls, and all sorts of social functions and my parents put alot of pressure on me to not be a disgrace to my "highly honored" family. I would go out and act like I had not a care in the world, yet I still had to act refined, and I had to agree with what everybody said." she continued, her voice wavering, "I had to be like that every time I was around people. I didn't like it but, now that I'm on my own, I don't necessarily have to act like that," she shrugged, " but, It's hard for me to stop acting so superficial because I don't know what people will think of the REAL me." She took a deep breath and noticed she felt strangely relieved. but AGAIN she found her self extremely embarrassed. I've really got to stop talking... she thought, but there was something about him that made her feel like she could say these things......"I-I don't know if that makes any sense or not....but....it's not fun being someone else..." she said with an embarrassed smile.

Kaede smiled genuinely at the girl and nodded his head. "Tell me about it." Kaede looked down at his hands and gently touched the bracelet on his wrist. It was his brother's. They got along. As a matter of fact, they were best friends. "My brother was my best friend when we were kids, but then....everything changed." He looked over at Aimi and gave her the saddest expression without even realizing what he was doing. He was opening up. Something he didn't usually do. "He turned as cold and as emotionless as my parents. They brainwashed him." He let out a deep sigh and looked away form her. "I lost my best friend, and now he's nothing bu a stranger. All I have left is my piano and this bracelet....." Kaede spoke in a hushed voice. He didn't know why, and right now, he didn't seem to care. It was too late. He was already thinking back into the good old days where everything was perfect and warm....Now it was nothing but a complete hell with his so called
"family".

Aimi, finally seeing the pain that troubled Kaede, brushed back the hair from her face and bit her lower lip. Sitting next to him, she hugged her knees to her chest....her heart was hurting, and she couldn't understand why. His circumstances were foriegn to her...she didn't think she could even begin to fathom the pain he must be feeling, but she knew pain. She opened her mouth but no words came out. So she did the only thing she knew how to do. She started singing. Since she still couldn't think of words, she sang a tune with no words. The melody was sad, but the way she sang it, it sounded sweet and hopefull. She looked down at the grass in front of her, too scared to move even an inch. She tried to pretend Kaede wasn't there, but it didn't work because he was the person she was singing for.

He knew what she was doing. She was.....making him forget all the bad and making him remember all the good that's happened in his life and for that he was....grateful. So Kaede leaned back and kept looking at her in awe because not only was her humming soothing him it made him feel better....happier. Everything in his past didn't seem to matter much anymore. Strangely, Kaede felt suddenly close to this girl....Aimi.

When Aimi stopped singing, she looked up and she turned to Kaede, seeing the look on his face made her smile. She felt happy, which was a feeling she rarely felt. Her heart was still pounding from her nervousness when she was singing for him, but the steady beating of her heart soothed her....she could hardly believe how much she enjoyed Kaede's company. She was and how being with him made her feel not so alone. She looked down towards the grass and said "Thank-you for listening and....and for just being here..."....her cheeks turned red as she looked away..."I-I'm sorry...t-that sounded weird...its just ummm..." her voice trailed off...

Kaede laughed to himself and without thinking twice about it, leaned forward and kissed Aimi's cheek. He didn't feel embarrassed, but that was the only was he can truly express how grateful he was that she was here with him. "Thanks, Aimi. No one ever listened to what I had to say except for William.....I would usually hide my feelings and act as if I didn't care like I do now....So...." Kaede smiled nervously and tilted his head to the side. "Thanks Aimi."

He would have to practice or call some friends. He knew his brother would call, but he would deal with that later. Before he could walk away, he said to himself, "See you later, Aimi..."

Aimi suffered through class as usual, but her thoughts kept drifting back to Kaede. She convinced herself that the only reason she was thinking about him was that he was more interesting than quadratic equations...of course she knew that wasn't true, but it was the easiest explanation. When class ended she headed out to the practice rooms. There were still a couple of songs she HAD to perfect. Not just because she was a perfectionist, but because those songs made her heart soar and she enjoyed singing them....

Kaede entered one of the practice rooms and set his violin case on the table, before his eyes went to the piano that was set on the other side of the room. But he knew he would have to practice the violin even though he loves the feel of the keys pressing against his fingers. It was magical whenever he played the piano, but the magic had to wait.
He picked up his violin and set it under his chin, and before he could play a single note, his cellphone rang.
With a loud groan, he picked it up and rolled his eyes when he heard his brother's voice. "Kaede."
After a long pause, Kaede finally sighed and said, "Hey Ren..."
