Sure that wasn't a Bull Mastiff? Pitbulls are medium-sized, smaller than Labradors even but very powerful.

A Bull Mastiff is sort of a giant Pitbull lol, and they are scary.

Ah, could have been that then. Until I looked Bull Mastiffs up on the internet I did not know they came in colors other than that light brown with black muzzle, red or black fur., and looked like Hooch(loose skin and more narrow frame). He really looked-like a monster-sized pitbull with the clipped ears, tail, he was just awesome.

Good god no.

I am a responsible individual.
I am not having a dangerous dog around my siblings. The breed alone is dangerous along with others and I thank god it is banned over here.

You can tell alot by those who have that breed.

One of the few intelligent things you've said for awhile now.

That you have redeeming qualities! C'mon, what's wrong with pit bulls? They aren't all guard dogs, and mroe often then not they just want to crawl into bed with you and lick you. Or does that depend on the breed? Hm, I don't know much about animal genetics....

guess i'll take that as a comliment then... kind of.

Sure pitbull canine genetics are a tough one, but you give a dog a good owner, who has the time and the patience. You can have a really great dog, no matter the breed. My dog jumps in bed all the time, with me. It's bittersweet.

Sterotypes have a basis in fact.
The 'devil dog' comment didn't come out of nowhere. It came out of increase of attacks by those breeds.

All pitbulls are capable of severe damage that can be fatal to small children or even adults.
Just this week a pregnant woman was killed by pitbulls
You can tell me a million times your dog will never harm anyone and short of all of it's teeth being pulled out, I can't believe you. You can never be 100% certain as to how your dog will react to a situation

There is a reason why the breed is banned, when it attacks. It can cause unbelievable amounts of damage.
I can't stand the breed but thankfully, I don't deal with them on a regular basis ever since most of them have been put down.

My family had a Am. Pit Bull when I 1-4, loved him to death. The thing about them being nanny dogs is pretty accurate, my mom used to tell me that when I tried to craw towards the road he would pick me up by the diaper and bring me back to the yard (parents were gonna get me but then saw him doing it). When I got older I even tried wrestling him and sometimes would pull his ears or tail, never bit me though he did head butt me to make me leave him alone :D. I even remember once when my dads boss came to the house and tried to get close to me, he stood up between me and him and just growled until he backed away, it was like having my own little guardian angel with fangs.

And for those that say pits are to aggressive, let me tell you. ANY dog can be dangerous if in the right situation, If you see a dog playing with a kid please don't just walk up and try to touch the kid, their called guard dogs for a reason. I've even heard of a lab killing a guy that attacked its master, its a pack instinct

And not only that some of you probably have heard of feral dog attacks getting worse over the years, packs of mutts, labs, German Shepard, even dalmatians roaming around at night attacking other pets and live stock as well as people sometimes. Any dog can be a good guardian or a literal monster. Just depends on how they're raised and the situation their in...sorta like people.

Yes. Don't believe the hype; they're wonderful dogs when trained properly. Are they a preference? -No. I have a weakness for Rotties. And Danes! Here's mine:

If it's nice, sweet, and trained- I would own a pit bull. Not all pi bulls are nasty fighting dogs. I know a couple people who own them. They're nice dogs actually. Those rabid fighting dogs (like those used in dog fighting, such a horrible sport, by the way. To even call it a 'sport' is wrong) are trained to act like that. If you train a pit bull well, it's not going to be aggressive.
