MR. DARCY IS SEVEN KINDS OF LOVELY. I swooned every other scene, I think; they picked this cast really well.

Keira Knightley rocks my world, of course, but that goes without saying.

I love that movie! And the book! I especially love Mr. Darcy! Wonder if I'll ever get to meet my Mr. Darcy.

It was good, but for some reason I still tend to cringe whenever Jane Austen is mentioned

Anyone ever read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies?

Warning, somewhat nauseating image.

I like this film. I prefer the BBC version because it is basically the whole book and I love the novel. Plus, Colin Firth is just perfect as Mr. Darcy. I still really like the film though. I think they managed to get the main parts of the novel into the film and they did it well. I don't like the ending to the US version though. I felt it was so unnecessary and just didn't fit in with the film but otherwise I really like the film.

I know this is an old, old thread but hey, Pride and Prejudice is timeless. I liked the 2005 version but wasn't in love with it. I swooned over Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy, but it's kind of hard to do him wrong as long as you get a handsome actor- or make him handsome- who has some build to him, a sullen demeanor, and a killer British accent. I especially loved the rain scene where they almost kiss. I enjoyed being introduced to the beauteous Rosamund Pike as the older sister. And I really liked Darcy's Pemberley estate. I mean, that sculpture room is unbelievable.

But in terms of overall movie-making I liked the Lawrence Olivier version better, and my favorite so far is the 1995 version with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. Best Mr. Darcy. Really, really sexy when he came out of the pond. Love that actor. And best Lizzie. Really smart, compassionate, beautiful. I enjoyed watching her in her own right instead of just thinking, give me the next Mr. Darcy scene.

Matthew Macfayden just didnt do it for me as darcy . I loved him in other things but just couldnt believe him as Mr Darcy.
Plus Keira Knightly was too well known and pretty to play Elizabeth! Again dont get me wrong, Keira Knightly is a good actress but not wite Elizabeth.

In terms of screen play and set, it was good but i think the casting let them down. In my opinion anyway!
