Website Enhancement - My Queue
|
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide shinji wrote: One of the most requested features is now available to all users – My Queue. With that, you can better manage shows that interest you. On every show page, you will see an “Add To Queue” button. On every episode page, you will see an “Add Series To Queue” button. To access My Queue page, just click the username drop down on top of every page. We will roll out My Queue to our mobile apps as well. Please be aware, as part of this effort to improve your user experience, we will decommission Watchlist and Favorites on September 1, 2011. If you have been using either to manage your queue, there are buttons on both pages that allow you to add shows to your queue easily. Have fun and enjoy watching more videos! Does that also include out favourite buddies and groups? O.o or only the things related to our fav shows and stuff? |

If it is not broke do not fix it. Wise words that have been ignored by someone yet again.
"Have fun and enjoy watching more videos!" Looks like I will be having less fun and watching less videos with this system. |

It would be nice to have the episode numbers listed on the queue (as it is in the Watchlist) so I can see what episode is next rather than having to play it to find out. Oh, and maybe an alert whenever there's a new episode. Also, a section where "finished" anime would be listed is useful.
I'm also wondering if the Queue will have a profile display like Watchlist does. Other than that, I never really used Favorites so I think this'll be an easier way to watch the shows that I watch regularly. Thanks for the updates. |

A few comments:
(1) An "add all to queue" in the watchlist page would have been nice. I had to go through it one by one to transfer titles over. (2) The queue lacks info the watchlist page has -- please consider putting at least the status (watching, plan to watch, finished, etc.) and number of episodes watched (and total for the series) into the queue page. (3) Seeing the whole queue on one page is nicer than the 10-titles-at-a-time watchlist I've been looking at, but the lack of info compared to the watchlist means I'm not really liking it right now. (4) I haven't tried using the "Play" or "Play Next" buttons, but considering some series I've already started watching say "Play" and not "Play Next", including at least one for which I see episodes watched in my history, I doubt these work correctly. Similarly, it's hard to know where you left off in a series without the episodes watched number noted in (2) above. The idea of the queue seems good, but I think the current implementation is lacking in some respects. Please consider the feedback in this thread and try to use it to improve the queue page. Thanks. |

Can there be an "add all to queue" button? I have almost a hundred titles in my watchlist, meticulously sorted by ANN bayesian estimate.
I really like the idea of being able to see everything on one page, maybe with a "currently watching" section at the top and a "finished" section at the bottom. I hope everyone's feedback gets addressed before we're forced to switch over, people are bringing up a lot of legitimate issues. |

I really like this system as long as they keep working to improve it. Things that I would need to have it be worth using:
1. Show which episode the system thinks you are on from the main My Queue page and a way to change it if it is wrong. 2. Put in the time when the next episode is available or if it is already available. 3. Be able to add to the queue from the anime listings page instead of having to go into each series to add it. 4. Not really a big deal but right now it doesn't work for me if you try to change your rating for something from the My Queue page. |

Favorites is likely to be replaced by a list of shows you've rated. So there'll be your Queue/History and then your Favorites/Rated shows. This should encompass most of the features from the watch list and favorite list.

yea i really dislike it as well. its a step up but at the same time a whole another step down. i like my favorite system it lets me know what i have seen before. people always ask me what to what and the favorite list is what i always turn to, to give suggestions. o well guess i'll just use some other site to sort all of my anime.

I would imagine ideally this would probably work like the Netflix instant queue, which would mean there is no reason for a "watch, watch next, etc" since it being in the queue means you are going to watch it, and each episode should drop off the queue after being watched, or you can manually remove it after you've done so, or it might have a time stamp as to when you last watched it, or if it at all.
I could see then how this feature could replace a watch list, except for the "this is what I've watched" feature, but not a favorites list. I have my own way of tracking my collection and what not so this feature isn't interesting to me, but I can't see trashing the favorites list along with the watchlist and replacing it with only the queue. EDIT: One issue I would point out with a favorite list being "shows you've rated" is that the second a title is added people start rating the show already. Stuff for previous seasons, even a week before the first ep was aired had a bunch of 5 star ratings, can't say that's the same as a favorite, and why shows can be rated before they even air is beyond me. Should just be a simple button that allows you to add the show to favorites from the show page or the queue.. the overall show rating the user gives can follow it onto the favorites page and allow them to rate from there... but shows you've rated, and then I'm assuming ranking them on that rating... like I said, people around here tend to rank stuff before they've seen it. |

So far behind on anime... need to catch up

It's convenient enough, but the design is hideous! And there are some features that I think would be great additions:
Series thumbnails (Watchlist had this) Series comments (Watchlist had this) Also, I was surprised to find that Infinite Stratos (in my Favorites) was eligible for the Queue. Could CR be planning to add this series to their lineup? Omoshire... |

Rejoice, Anonymous-san. Your wish will finally come true.

fair enough i guess, but series like Junjou Romantica don't have a 'add to queue' button, so i can't keep track of what i'm actually watching right now..

Favorites is likely to be replaced by a list of shows you've rated. So there'll be your Queue/History and then your Favorites/Rated shows. This should encompass most of the features from the watch list and favorite list. But this not there now (or I missed it), yet Favourite button is gone. Only have Add to Queue button now. There's a 5 star rating showing for each show I added to my Queue, BUT, it's the rank overall from everyone (for the SERIES or an EPISODE? Not clear!!), not what I ranked it as. You can rate it but it still shows the overall, not what you pick. |
