I thought you were going to have an ad supported structure like Crunchy, oh well so much for that.

Also I may be reading this wrong but I am going to ask, do I have to pay the 10 dollar monthly fee then on top of it buy the manga volumes to read it.

Yes, I am also wondering about this too. It wouldn't make much sense for them to charge you then ontop of that buy each book/chapter/whatever individually. But who knows, maybe they do.

Yeah, I'm kinda confused on exactly how the subscription plan works.

I asked someone who did the beta.

So if you pay $60 you get 6,000 points. If you pay $10 you get 1,000 points. I think thats what he/she was telling me

So if you are going to get a subscription I would pay $20 and get 2,000 points since most volumes on there sell for 899 points or $8.99. I wouldn't recommend buying individual chapters since they will be more than 899 points when bought all together. Which is weird shouldn't it be equal to the price of the whole volume?

Probably for the same reason omnibus editions cost less than the individual volumes. The subscription page only lists a $10 and free option, so that could be part of the confusion.

Okay so it's like this

You sign up for the site

And then you buy your "credits". $10 = 1000 credits

Using those credits you have, you use them to buy volumes or chapters.

----------------------------

Since they are giving a free 500 credits (free $5?), i might buy a $10 package to get it~
But when the promotion ends, unless the way of buying mangas change and become cheaper - i might not continue to buy it and just go physical copy

I don't know why, but I was thinking this would be integrated in Crunchyroll. I kinda liked the idea of paying one subscription & having all my anime/manga in one place...

Same as you can watch anime anywhere for free, but you still pay for it here, right?

For about the same price, or less, you can buy most of the titles on Jmanga in print... I don't see the point...

For me, the price issue is immaterial. This site is ruined for me by the inability to actually download manga, and own DRM-files that I can read anywhere, at any time.

I want to own content, not pay for access rights to content.

As it is, I hope this business model fails. If this is the future of niche manga, I'll be reading a lot less manga in the future.

Well, it's nice that you're getting the service going, but if you want my money you'll have to have more than the first volume of series I want to read. Excel Saga, for example. I have 22 times the amount listed there sitting within arm's reach on my bookshelf. Which is to say that you're losing to dead trees.

Don't give up; challenge again!

Is there a place to see future plans? For example:
- Mobile app (iPad!)
- Monthly all-you-can-read price instead of buy-and-own
?

I couldn't see anything on the site. Also, it was very confusing with the free issues -- they appear not to be free to buy but just have an unlimited length preview (implying they will become not-free at some point in the future and we will lose access?).

Congrats on launching! Big step forward, even though you'll probably mainly hear about issues more than benefits.

I am saddened because I don't have a credit card for the subscription. I have all this cash and no way to spend it.

If you have a bank account, you should be able to get a debit card without any problem.
