Yeah until this is more cost effective I highly doubt I would sign up for this Id rather own a physical copy of the manga for the price they charge.

How am I not surprised it's for Americans only
I'm starting to wonder if it's maybe better to also make Crunchyroll.com North American only. That way you don't have to deal with difficult licensing stuff, and we know what we're getting without having to pay the same for less.

Anyways, I wish you guys all the best with the new site. I don't expect myself to be around here anymore after my subscription is at its end in December.

Yes, it's a legitimate online manga site - you pay for chapters or volumes and you can view them online.

Yeah it wasn't very legal then. Actually I think they money made off of illegal fansubs I'm not sure about that though. I'm glad they changed their ways or we wouldn't have much variety of anime legally available if they were sued and forced to shut down back then.

I spent some time looking around, seeing what they had to offer and it's an interesting concept, but it falls flat in a few areas.

Cost - It's VERY expensive. You pay points ($.01 == 1 point) to read a chapter. So, something like 180 points for a chapter, 900 points for a full volume. The subscription part is only that you prepay for points each month and you get a few extra for doing so. You don't own the manga and you lose access to the manga if your account is ever cancelled, etc. What that comes down to is that you pay $9 for the privilege of reading the manga you paid for online at their pleasure.

Selection - Right now the selection is fairly poor. I expect that will change, but it is what it is.

Availability - There is no indication of how quickly after a weekly manga is released that we'll be able to read it. If this site is only licensing finished tankoubons, it's a joke. What's the point of paying through the nose for a not much more convenient, but much more costly way to read the same manga?

For me, this way of selling manga is a no go. If they offered a monthly subscription like CR does, or they were selling you ebooks that you could keep yourself or at least making the ebooks available offline for purchases, I can see myself using the site in some way, but as it is, it's a colossal waste of money.

Sorry guys, you are either ripping people off, or the business/licensing model and costs you have work with is just plain piss poor.

Looking forward to when you release it in Europe as well.
But it would be cool if you loosened up the geofilter a bit. I'd like to browse the catalogue to see what I'm missing ;)

I prefer to read on paper tho. And bookshelves look better with books in them.

I don't get the point system. So you get 500 points when you sign up for a monthly subscription, but is that all you get? I see all these manga for 899 points... How do I get more than 500 points? Do I have to pay more money than the 10$ monthly subscription?

I got a geofilter message when going there just now. It says it's only available in North America. I'm most definitely in North America. I think the site still has a few bugs to work out.

The selection looks very limited. $1.80 a chapter doesn't seem good to me either when I get the Anime for like $1.20.

Ever check out marvel or DC comic prices? It's like 1.99 per issue with only about 18-24 pages. With those to compare, jmanga, albeit Japanese, translated, and almost like comics, would still be cheaper.
