What the ..??? one dollar equals 100 points 29 pages equals one chapter equals 200 points Two dollars for 29 pages? Really? For a digital copy? That I don't actually own but perpetually rent? Terrible. I was really looking forward to a great service that allowed you to read comic books for series at some kind of yearly rate, just like crunchyroll, but all I got was this superexpensive rental service. The entertainment value is really low, considering it's cheaper to rent a movie that lasts for an hour and a half than it is for 29 pages. This quotes sums up everything and how I'm feeling right now haha |

Some things take a little longer to work on than others, so we ask for your patience in this regard. Thanks! And now, we wait The fact that they ever felt this pricing model was a good idea does not give me ANY faith in this business. Even a tiny bit of research could have told them that this was going to be way too much. It's insane to me that anyone has paid for this service. |

Just bought a subscription out of curiosity to try things out since i love crunchyroll so much. The site and content is really well done. The manga reader is easy to use and I love being able to instantly jump back and forth between Japanese and English. The only thing i think the site is missing is a wishlist or favorites feature to keep track of manga. I don't plan on spending more then the 1000 a month, so it would be nice to have an easy way to keep track of what I want to buy next.
As for the pricing plan I too probably wont continue very long at current prices. Everyone should be able to buy manga at these current prices if they have a subscriber or not. Subscribers should then continue to get the same monthly points as they do now and get at least a 30% discount on everything there. 30% off would mean 6.29 for a volume which is still probably a little too expensive but it at least sounds reasonable. I just know if i can't get 2 volumes every month for my subscription I will have a hard time justifying paying for this. Also I don't know exactly what this means: You’ll also receive an ongoing monthly bonus of 50 points ($10 Monthly Plan) Does this mean that every month you get 1050 points for your subscription, or does this stack like the first month is 1000, the second is 1050, the third is 1100, and so on? If so that would mean 15800 by the end of your first year (including the 500 you get for signing up now). So with one full year you get 17 volumes under the current price plan, or if they use my 30% off suggestion it would be 25 volumes. They would probably have to put a cap on the max bonus you can get, but i think that would be a cleaver plan to keep people subscribed because if they cancel then they lose all the bonus and have to start at 0 again if they resubscribe. If they just meant 1050 per month then that would insulting as it would take about 1.5 years before you net yourself a single free volume. |

Why would I pay to read manga when I can read manga for free on other websites?

They need to hurry up and increase the selection. I see no way to preview or buy 90% of the stuff I want.
And this whole point system is god awful. If they need ideas on how to do it then just steal from marvel. http://marvel.com/digital_comics/unlimited 60 bucks a YEAR. Access to their ENTIRE digital comic selection. Pretty much the only one to do it digital content subs right. |

Not even worth my time
They dont even have Higurashi or HighSchool Of The Dead in there. Hell, I rather buy the manga I love (HighSchool Of The Dead, Haruhi Suzumiya and Higurashi ONLY). Reading online is kinda boring lately I dont know why. Dont get me wrong, I used to LOVE reading manga online o_o |

The free previews could stand to be a bit longer for some titles too. Drifting Net Cafe (http://www.jmanga.com/drifting-net-caf) for instance literally has just one page of the actual story before it asks you if you want to buy.

I think ill check the site again in 3 months. Hopefully by then they will have realized that they shot themselves in the foot with the current pricing structure.

would be more excited if the publishing companies didn't "westernize" the mangas. I refuse to buy Initial D for this exact reason. Did anybody read the first preview chapter of Bleach?
I do appreciate the idea behind jmanga though |

Yeah, that's what they mean ~ a 5% bonus per month for early subscribers. The problem you are pointing to is the same as everyone else points to ~ they sell, say, Shonen Jump in Japan at less than $0.01 a page, which would be less than 1pt a page in their system. If they priced at something similar to that ... 20pts for an18 to 22 page chapter, 25 points for a 23 to 27 page chapter, 30 points for a 28 to 32 page chapter, etc. ... then the complaints about the price would only come from people who want other people to work for them for free. Even if that was one week access and you had to pay double that for "unlimited access", $0.60 for unlimited access to a chapter would be a lot better than $2.99. A dime a page is crazy. Plus at a reasonable points per page rate, they could sell one-off 450pts for $5 to free members, and the free membership could be of some use. hrrly wrote: They need to hurry up and increase the selection. Its way off of the pricing of serials that is a proven success in Japan in building and maintaining the manga market there. If they want the points system to work, then for $10 worth of points, you ought to be able to at least put together the equivalent of two manga serial magazines a month ~ which in Japan run 200 pages to 500 pages each. |
