How long is a piece of string? most shows I drop I just.. sortof... never get around to watching. For me personally on the 'Garf will make time to watch it scale' Kamisama Dolls has so far rated above Dalian, No. 6, and Sacred 7. It probably rates higher than Blood -c too, but I'm still watching Blood -c. If I had to guess I'd say it rates lower than Usagi Drop, Ninjichou, and Maworu Peguindrum

If things get busier for me I suspect it's a tie between Kamisama Dolls and Blood-c for who get's cut. Though blood c has an unfair advantage. I really liked the franchise so I'm giving Blood-C far more chances to live up to previous 'blood' shows than it deserves. Viewed on their own merits Kamisama Dolls rates far higher on the 'Me, I like it!' scale than Blood-C.

Can't speak for the rest of the would and wouldn't be presumptions enough to try. From a personal point of view the fact that she is female is irrelevant. If the person in question was male my opinion of them would be just as negative.

That being said I didn't bother to comment on the episode at all, didn't really see the point. Ignorant comments are pretty much to be expected, though. I gave up any hope of most people even being mildly mature, let alone intelligent, with what they post a long time ago.

This is the most rational argument for the other point of view that I've seen.

Anyhow... I don't completely disagree with you. and see the justice of you points even though I would put a different interpretation on them. From your last comment I assume you don't mind if I mark you down as believing 'shallowness' is the answer to my final question?

As for marking it down as shallowness, yes, I suppose it is. Blindly throwing around words like slut without even any context is not only immature but also very shallow. Personally don't really get the sexism angle, though. Said it before but as far as I'm concerned if Senou had been a guy my opinion would have been exactly the same.

I don't like those shows.
I'll think about it, then. Once it's done airing or something, I'll read some reviews and decide. lol

Well perhaps you personally are not sexist then. But would you concede that the labeling of 'slut' is sexist? Also while you may not agree that it would be fair. Do you think in the society as portrayed in this and other anime that male teacher who made similar decisions and/or had similar bad luck would be placed in the same untenable situation? For that matter was Senou's unwillingness to make a larger scene or fight back in a constructive way HER choice or the programming of her culture?

Feel free to answer or not. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything I'm just curious as to what people think. You said you don't get the sexism angle, are you aware of gender bias in the context of the society portrayed in most anime? Are you aware of gender bias in your own thinking? ( that last is a tough one. I'm not sure I could answer yes to that)

Guys, reality check for you, but pretty much nobody does arranged marriages here anymore. The only places I've ever even heard of it going on are the most upper-crust of the upper-crust wanting to stay in their own social bracket, which is pretty much the same thing that happens in the States.

When (most) men write women, their bias- both in how they believe "good" and "bad" women act, and how they feel their behavior should be treated- always shows through. This doesn't make it (or any anime, really) an accurate depiction of any real life culture. Anime isn't Japan, and Japan sure as hell ain't anime. It's a reflection of the biases and fantasies of the people that write them, and a lot of those people are Japanese. That doesn't mean those folks are representative of their culture, or trying to accurately depict their real world (often, quite the contrary- while some noteworthy anime are written as social commentary, that aim is usually very clear from the get-go).

Beyond that? I don't argue with angry teenagers about sex and gender. On the Internet, what looks like scary hate is usually just poorly-aimed impotent rage. It takes a few years to develop some trigger discipline.

Fair enough. and probably a waste of my time. But I still find it more interesting than various iterations of 'how many anime characters can dance on the head of pin?'

And few people here did raise points I felt were worth discussing.

Hopefully, my comments didn't necessarily tar Japan, the real world country and culture, with the brush of this particular anime's bias but... Anime is the primary filter through which I'm exposed to this country I've never visited. So I'm sure some does leak through.

I only read the 1st page and the rest is tl;dr...

Senou Chihaya is human like everyone else. We get strayed from our goals, we make mistakes and fall in love even if it is against morals or society. We encounter those sort of mistakes at one point of our lives.

A bad record and maybe jail time would be enough punishment for her as Japan's high standards of trust and integrity will make her life miserable.

As for the haters... Well, let's just say those sort of people tend to see only a piece of the picture but not as a whole.
