Most people on MAL don't watch it either. When I'm looking at other anime lists, One Piece, Bleach, and/or Naruto are almost never on them....or they are in the "dropped" category.

Apparently the One Piece manga does extremely well in Japan still. Well, it is successful almost everywhere. I still haven't given it much of a chance, but I feel like I have to many other series to watch. I think of watching any of the 3 is kind of like a big commitment, in that they are all so long...Taking forever to complete, not to mention fillers. :/

I've skipped at least a hundred episodes in watching Naruto (Shippuden). Of course, it's not my main course when it comes to anime so fillers and lack of quality doesn't bother me too much. Though like Inuyasha, I still care enough about the characters and the story (because again, I don't read much manga) that it's something I'm willing to put up with.

How do you feel about long-running series like DBZ? I think they kind of go along with the whole InuYasha thing.

Although I liked the DBZ manga better.

I loved DBZ when I was a kid. It is the only series that I can actually enjoy the English dub too!

I think the long-running series like DBZ, Naruto, Gintama and One Piece have their time and place. They certainly do more good than bad for the manga and anime industry as well as the characters and the blend of action and humor are typically what make the stories so popular.

I have the first season of DBZ, and I did watch some of it dubbed. I usually don't watch dubs anymore, either. But I still have yet to complete the whole series....A lot to go!

If I were to pick any of the big 3 to follow, it would probably be One Piece. I honestly can't make myself sit down and watch every single episode at the moment, but you know.

That's understandable. I watched DBZ a lot on TV in junior high and some of my friends actually liked it so it's a got a lot of nostalgia to it. Plus, there is this scene in Bakuman where they reenact the fusion dance in it and it's hilarious!

Anyway, Naruto is by far my favorite of the big 3. I'm a closet Narutard. Shhh...

I would have never guessed of an affinity for Naruto! XD

I feel like maybe one day I should go an watch at least one of the three...maybe once one of them finally ends. I'm intimidated by they're long on-going status. Oh well. There's so much anime I want to watch...

Like I've said, I've skipped over a hundred episodes in watching Naruto and as everyone knows Naruto is pure entertainment. I'm a sucker for the lame story lines, the anticlimactic action and the overload of cliched characters!

That statement perfectly and exactly sums up my love for magical girl anime! I guess we're not so different, after all. XD

It's like I know it's bad, but I still want to watch it anyway.

We might have different tastes but I think we both share the same expectations from our anime.

....And are occasionally oddly drawn to overly-cliched anime!

Those anime are successful for a reason and I personally switch back and forth between the popular and the obscure. That type of variety and balance are what I look for in all things.

Have you seen Shinigami no Ballad? It's only six episodes, but seems like something you would find interest in. I personally liked it.

Nope, haven't seen it but I'm researching it now and putting it on my watchlist. It does look like something I might like though, thanks.

Umm, I can't really recommend any magical girls though, because I haven't seen many and you probably already know all of them anyway!

Haha, well, I can't really see you recommending magical girls in the first place! XD

Maybe Madoka....Hmm...

Speaking of that, I'm glad it got licensed so quickly. I feel like now a lot of the companies are starting to realize what the fans want. I'm definitely buying the DVDs when they are available.
