A lot of the food in this thread looks really good.

I am fond of experimental cooking, haha.

I tried making some banana chips this afternoon. My endeavor wasn't a complete failure but it didn't go so hot.

I'm like Hiramaru from Bakuman when it comes to cooking. I hate it, but apparently I'm good at it. I just need a lot of pushing and motivation. xD

Finally a subject I can sink my teeth into! If it walks, crawls, swims, flies, or slithers I can cook it! Learned from gram and momma! Irish, Pennsylvania Dutch, Italian, and I do a mean stir fry! Let's start with pork shoulder slow cooked fer around six hours. Sea salt, pepper, garlic (not too much!) thyme, and just a lil ginger. Start with the rub of herbs use butter or olive oil as the final layer. Broil but only to a light brown (just give it a little fire!) Put chunk o meat into campfire oven and cook at 225° fer about 3 hours (fat side up) then flip. Three more hours. After that well it's up to you. As far as failures well I was five my older sister made cookies one day. She hid the cook book so I tried to do the recipe from memory. Turns out baking soda & baking powder are two very different things! I used WAY TOO MUCH baking powder in the mix. Mom put a table spoon of my "batch" and cooked em up. Suckers turned into BISCUITS. Momma called poison control to check if my "cookies" were all right to eat. My poor cousin was our guinea pig. I wish YouTube existed back then! The look on his face will bring a smile to my face for eternity.

My dishes are tastiest when I add minimal flavorings. I get carried away whenever I add half a dozen herbs. A simple approach brings out good dishes from me and when I try to be like an artist with an array of flavorings I end up creating not a masterpiece in taste.

Oh the wacky adventures I've been self-compelled to do eagerly thinking it would be magnificent. Simple brings out the best out of my dishes. Very simple. I bet that's the same with most people.

Don't try to be an artist unless your baking pastries.

Amen brother! Spoken like a true cook! My brother in law puts just about everything in the spice rack into his dishes. And ends up with mud! Bastard ruined a pot of chili I was cooking up one day! We still don't talk much. If the flavors overpower the main ingredient then they're missing the point!

I love to bake sweets. ^_^
I make fantastic cheese cake, and cupcakes. My favorite part is frosting them. If I have the time, I'll make homemade frosting/icing.

I LOVE to cook! XD I've been cooking for over 20 years! First thing I learned to make when I was 10 was french toast.

I think the worst mistake I made was when I was first learning to make spaghetti sauce. I put in too much salt and for some reason I thought "if it's too salty, then I should add sugar until the saltiness goes away!" Yea... bad idea, sweet and salty spaghetti sauce anyone?

As for masterpieces.... my favorites that I make are fudge, cheesecake, kimchi, nikuman and baked mostaccioli. But when people come over, they usually like my rib roast, loaded baked potato soup, beef yakitori and carrot cake the best.

Ooh mind baking me a cheesecake? I'm craving something sweet.

As for me, I can bake if I see something fun and interesting to make. Also if I don't feel lazy. I prefer to only use fresh ingredients.
Just this past week, I made lasagna with spinach and ricotta, pizza, juiced veges and fruits, omelets, and some other things.

My best dish on my first try was baked herb chicken. My specialty though is different types of fried rice, sushi rolls, and pasta carbonara. I haven't had accidents in cooking yet, but I once used the wrong sugar in making boiled icing when I was new to baking years ago xD
