MBLAQ, (엠블랙) is a South Korean quintet boy band created by Korean pop R&B singer Rain under his label J.Tune Entertainment. The group debuted in October 9, 2009 at Rain's Legend of Rainism concert. On October 14, 2009 the group released their debut single album, "Just BLAQ", which topped various on-line and off-line music charts in South Korea.

HISTORY
Having trained for two years, MBLAQ was first announced on 21 September 2009, with an appearance on Nylon magazine.The group appeared alongside Rain, in his Legend of Rainism concert. They performed various songs from their produced EP, Just BLAQ and were met with praise. The group released teasers for their debut song, "Oh Yeah" on October 12,with the music video being released two days later. Coinciding with the music video, MBLAQ's debut single album Just BLAQ, was released on the same day, topping various charts in South Korea. The next day, the group made their broadcast debut on M.net's M!Countdown, performing "Oh Yeah".

In early December, the group debuted in Japan, following their performance during Rain's fan meeting- resulting in a documentary being produced surrounding their stay at Japan. Later in the month, the group commenced promotions for their follow up track, "G.o.o.d Luv", with the music video being released December 10 2009. On December 15, it was announced that the group would be part of Season five of the Idol Show (Hangul: 아이돌 군단의 떴다! 그녀 lit. Idol Corps, She Has Arrived!), with the first episode airing a day later.

Cheon Doong (Korean term for Thunder) is the younger brother of 2NE1 vocalist Sandara Park. His sister, Sandara Park, is a former Korean expatriate who once starred in movies and television shows in the Philippines. Like his sister, he lived in the Philippines and is fluent in Tagalog and is also conversational in English.

MBLAQ to visit their mentor Rain in the military



Idol group MBLAQ announced that they’re going to visit singer Rain in the military.

On the February 25th airing of SBS Radio ‘Jung Sun Hee’s ‘A Night Like Tonight”, the members talked about their ideal types of women and displayed their passion for music.

The boys also shared that when times were extremely difficult, they got over their ‘slump’ by listening to the songs of their senior and mentor Rain.

They confessed that even after Rain enlisted into the Korean military, he continues to be the members’ pillar of mental strength and stability.

“It’s already been a few months since he enlisted, but we have been unable to visit him due to our busy schedule,” MBLAQ remarked. “We give him a call every time we miss him.”

“No matter how much other people encourage us, we are most strengthened by Rain’s two words, ‘Have strength’,” they continued.

The boys then sent Rain a short message saying, “We’re going to visit you in March when our promotions come to an end. Wait for us!”

MBLAQ's Seungho suffered from a back injury



MBLAQ's Seungho is reported to have suffered an injury after participating in a pre-recording session for today's episode of Mnet M! Countdown. Through a representative, it was confirmed that Seungho was immediately taken to hospital after injuring his back during the performance of the group's acrobatic choreography for their track "Run."

The representative also explained that Seungho had suffered back problems before and it only reoccurred due to the difficult choreography for "Run."

MBLAQ's Seungho is said to be receiving treatment for his injury and is resting. The agency revealed that they will announce his upcoming schedule once they get his results.

After finishing promotions for their title track "It's War", MBLAQ will kick off promotions for their follow-up track "Run."

MBLAQ’s Seungho to return to the stage this week + special album release on March 21st



MBLAQ‘s leader Seungho, who recently suffered an accident injuring his back, will be returning for the group’s activities this week!

On March 13th, J. Tune Camp revealed that Seungho will be returning to the stage on the March 16th episode of KBS’s ‘Music Bank’ for their performance of “Run“.

A representative explained, “Seungho’s back has healed. He’s received an examination from the hospital and there’s nothing to worry about.”

Through their Me2day, MBLAQ alerted, “Starting with ‘Music Bank’ this week, Yang leader Seungho will be joining our ‘Run performance. Please support him.”

As previously reported, Seungho injured his back during a pre-recording on ‘M! Countdown‘ on March 1st. Since then, only four of the boys have been performing.

J. Tune Camp also recently updated the boys’ official fancafe with news that the will be releasing a special version of “100% Ver.” titled “BLAQ% Ver.” on March 21st, which will be comprised of thee more songs titled “100%”, “BLAQ%”, and “Love Is Coming”.

MBLAQ’s Lee Joon to MC for MBC’s ‘Dreams and Fields’



MBLAQ‘s Lee Joon, who’s been on the rise as the new star of the variety industry thanks to his funny remarks on MBC‘s ‘Radio Star‘, has been named the new MC of MBC‘s new ‘Our Sunday Night‘ segment, ‘Dreams and Fields’.

The program has gone through some changes over its month of hiatus, so its first broadcast on March 18th is one fans won’t want to miss. Lee Joon will be working with Jung Juri, Ahn Sun Young, Lee Kyung Shil and others, and will also be showing off his ‘reversal character’.

‘Dreams and Fields’ is a variety program that takes celebrities into hometown villages, where they communicate and spend time with the elderly living there. The guests for the first episode will include miss A, as they visit various villages.

In the second half of ‘Our Sunday Night’ is a new real variety show called ‘Exploration of Genders‘ that will have celebrities change gender roles to better understand the opposite gender. Celebrities in the line-up include Brian, TEEN TOP’s Chunji, Shin Bong Sun, A Pink’s Eunji and more.

MBLAQ’s G.O. transforms into a stalker on ‘Salamander Guru’



MBLAQ‘s G.O. transformed into Lim Soo Hyang‘s stalker.

On the March 16th episode of SBS TV‘s ‘Salamander Guru‘, G.O’s character was arrested after stalking top star Soomin (Lim Soo Hyang).

G.O. went to see the Salamander Guru and said, “My girlfriend is missing,” asking the whereabouts of Soomin. When he arrived, Soomi recognized G.O. and quickly went hiding in a different room.

In the end, Soomin was discovered by G.O. and was dragged out of the house. Wonsam heard Soomin’s scream for help and rushed out to save her, which caused G.O. to run away.

Soomin then revealed her real identity by removing her wig and said, “I was hiding because of my stalker,” explaining why she pretended to be a minor.

Upon hearing her story, Bumkyu, Sundal, Wonsam, Minhyuk, and Kyungja devised a plan to catch G.O.

Thanks to their well-devised plan and Bumkyu’s side kick, G.O was captured and sent to the police.

Thunder thought about quitting MBLAQ because of Seungho



MBLAQ‘s Thunder revealed his fear of Seungho in a recent episode of jTBC‘s ‘Park Kyung Lim’s Oh Happy Day’, that focused on the boys’ trainee and debut days.

Thunder confessed he was afraid of Seungho to the extent that he wanted to give up being a MBLAQ member.

Thunder was the last member to join MBLAQ as he came to Korea from the Philippines where he was living with his family. He told of his hardships as he stated, “Korea and the Korean culture were still very unfamiliar when I joined MBLAQ.”

When asked which member bothered him the most, Thunder chose Seungho without hesitation. Thunder stated, “As I didn’t know of any older brother-younger brother differences in the Philippines, Seungho took the age difference strictly and used military discipline. Using the hyung position, he took my training uniform from the first practice day.”

Lee Joon further explained, “Thunder was really afraid of Seungho hyung. That’s why every dawn he called me into the convenience store and complained that he couldn’t take it anymore.”

To these complaints, Seungho gave an unexpected retaliation, making the studio laugh.

Popular idol group MBLAQ has released a new smart phone application!

Following previous games such as ‘Super Junior Shake‘, ‘T-ara Shake‘, and more, ‘MBLAQ Shake‘ has officially been launched on the iTunes app store March 20th.

9 MBLAQ songs including “RUN“, “This Is War“, “Mona Lisa“, and more have been worked into the new game, and users will be able to switch from ‘TAP’ to ‘SHAKE’ modes.
