There are a lot. I honestly haven't kept track of them all but I remember liking FMA: Brotherhood 4 opening with the song from Chemistry, some of them from Eureka Seven and Denno Coil as well. Baccano and Durarara are good ones too!

Thinking about all these openings and endings brings back a lot of memories. I kind of wish I could go back to then..

I'm quite fond of the OP from Ano Hana, which I'm sure a lot of other people are as well. Nonetheless, the song fits perfectly for the show and Galileo Galilei make good music in general so I've got to give them some props.

I still have to watch AnoHana. I like tragedy elements.

It's almost scary how flawlessly melodramatic it is.

That's my kind of series.

I'm a big fan of Key stuff as well.

I obviously started out with shonen and seinen shows so I'm slowly working my way into more shojo and stuff adapted from visual novels. Even though I know a lot of it is quality stuff.

Key series are certainly not shoujo or even produced for a female demographic at all. Kanon and Air's visual novels were both explicit.

The anime weren't, of course.

I meant for the Key works to be classified under visual novels while the shojo mention was for my general lack of familiarity with them. Naturally, the anime will be toned down as compared to any games. Though I guess I made my point in that I don't know much about them, haha.

Ah, I see. I have to say, I do think that shoujo and josei are better as manga whereas shounen and seinen are better as anime.

That's just my opinion. As I've stated before, I love series with tragic aspects...Naturally Clannad is one of my favorites. I bought the complete series of Air + the OVAs at a convention and I'm watching Kanon (2006) from Funimation legally.

Angel Beats and Haruhi are KyoAni, too, but they lack the Key touch. :(

You know how people call Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece "the Big 3"? I like to think of Kanon, Air, and Clannad as "the Big 3" of visual novel-turned anime series.

It's easier to turn a shonen manga into a nice, flashy anime. While a shoujo work doesn't always translate well into an anime. But I've said this before and I'll say it again. When you see the characters you love from a manga move in motion and interact in an anime the payoff can be substantially more than in the manga, but that's just how I see things.

I don't think you're alone in calling those the Big 3. I see a lot of buzz about those here on CR. My favorite Big 3 is the Big 3 of Slice of Life: BECK, Honey and Clover and Nana. Definitely some of my favorites!

Back in the day I used to exclusively read manga and was very limited in the amount of anime series I watched.

Now, I still buy manga (I'm sure you saw my extensive collection in that thread)....I actually just bought Sailor Moon vol. 1, Codename Sailor Venus vol. 1, and KamisamaKiss vol. 2 yesterday. I have and buy way too much manga, but it's weird....They used to be my main form of entertainment years ago, but now that has switched to anime. In fact, I admit to being a bit obsessed with the numbers of the Anime List on my MAL profile. Everytime I click that "+" button to add another episode, it is very fulfilling!

I don't know what made manga fade in the background as opposed to anime, but I suppose everyone changes.....Hmmm...
