Air. A 3 second judgement. Kanon about the same. Clannad, likewise, but later on I found the story decent and the sequel's writing was pretty good, unlike the dumb character design.

I have definately judged an anime too quickly, one of my favourite shonen jump animes/mangas at the moment is Gin Tama, however when I first watched a fan sub of the first 2 episodes, I absolutely hated it!!! However I decided to give it another go when Sentei released the first year on DVD and now I'm hooked and can't wait for Mondays for new episodes

Yes. For example I didn't start watching Steins;Gate until reasently because I wrote it of as shit when it first released.
I now realise however 22 episodes later that it's one if not the best anime I've ever seen and It's not even over yet. I'm so excited for the last two episodes, lol.

i hated naruto before i even watched an episode of it, and still do this day i do, even though i still havent watched any of it. the intro's have gotta capture my heart otherwise i will not carry on.

I always judge series based on cover and summary before I even give it chance. I can watch a few series per season without giving a damn about the rest because they didn't seem interesting. There's many series I've done that to.
But I tried to watch One Piece....well the first episode, or rather I didn't even finish it because I didn't think it was interesting. Although in summer 2008 I decided to give One Piece another try and now I love it. It's probably my favorite long running shounen anime.

Quite often yes, but found that the ones that I judge badly are actually pretty good, such as phantom for the requiem and most recently seikimatsu occult gakuin.

Sometimes yes.
For instance, I actually dropped Bleach after watching the first 10 mins but later came back and enjoyed the rest of the series. It's now one of my favorite animes. I have dropped some other animes that I regretted but have also misjudged some animes that I assumed were good but in fact turned out to be terrible (wont't be naming them in this post). These usually turned out to be animes with good animation but crappy storyline and vice versa.
Bascially, I think the best way to get a good general standing of an anime series before watching or getting too much spoilers is to read some of the main characters' synopsis and general storyline without too much depth.

The Kekkaishi commercial made it look all action and no comedy, but my dad watched and episode and said it was nice and I watched it and ended up finishing the season...

Someone explained the summary to me when I was younger and I thought it was the dumbest thing I'd ever heard. explained as "they get turned into animals from the Chinese zodiac and they got cats" it didn't help that my Chinese friend was around to say there weren't any cats in the zodiac. And that's why WATCHING the anime is important. I got on the net more heavily later in life and saw reception for it was pretty good. I finally watched it last summer and it's a very interesting and sentimental experience.
But I guess I want to be up on what's going on or seem like I have a vast knowledge of anime so I stick with most things. I've seen a lot recently that are not bad, but not like ,wow!

Two shows come to mind: Kiddy Grade and Higurashi. I didn't like either after the first episode. It took about 3 episodes before things really started to click. That's why I'll watch about 3 episodes before I really make up my mind whether a show is worth watching or not.
