Modern Art

First thing that comes to mind when modern art is mentioned. Basically everything. Personally, anything is art if I can analyze it with true meaning, or whatever is considered art will be art to my eyes. Modern art, Renaissance art, they are all art.

It's a fault of mine but I associate "modern art" with minimalism, a movement I generally dislike. I know modern art encompasses much more than minimalism, a lot of which I do like such as Anselm Kiefer, I just don't immediately think of the other areas when I hear "modern art". I don't know many of Duchamp's works (Nude Descending a Staircase is the only one I can name) so he doesn't cross my mind. Cai Guo-Qiang's work is pretty cool, is it considered modern art?

yes, Cai Guo-Qiang is consider modern art, and I love his work. I saw his work in a museum before, and I was watching how he make his gun power painting.

It makes me think of food.

It bores me. I prefer to look at paintings that make me go "How the hell did they do that?"

I'm really impressed by photo-realism work.

Well modern art is about exploring new medium(material), and the way how an artist use it in a different way. Well try to reproduce Pollock's "Lavender Mist", see if you can.

Complexity

* Humanity
* Connection
* Friendship

Life &&& stuff. I'm probably thinking about Art in general - I don't know what to think about Modern Art.
It is all linked together in my head.
