I purchased it and was somewhat disappointed. This might be great if you wanted to do a school manga, but not much else. A lot of the background images provided are a bit too real life to really flow well with the contexts provided. I haven't really seen too many cases where cartoons and real life mix well. I was surprised that I didn't find a single room background image that wasn't for a school. Also only the females get any non-school uniform clothes and that only one set with limited choice of color scheme. Also there are a total of 4 types of clothes(2 per gender) each with only 4-6 color schemes(both guys get 4). You do get some choice when it comes to positioning things but color is heavily limited. Overall this is a very school centric package that still needs some work. Also there is no 3D import, just 2D, so it will be difficult to fill in the gaps in the 3D asset selection.

If anyone feels limited by the school backgrounds, I strongly suggest using Jpegs for the backgrounds (like I did in my comic above). It really opens up the possibilities...

Importing 3D data is available in the Japanese version and is definitely coming soon to the English version.

Thanks for your feedback!

It is available for purchase only from Crunchyroll, Comradz, and ComiPo! Info. We recommend buying it from Crunchyroll for reasons that should be obvious! Thanks!

I wonder how long it will take before the novelty wears off from most of the winners and it's dumped by the wayside?

I was planning on buying it but as swight mentioned in his post, I'm less then convinced it would be worth my money if it is so centred on school life.

Only one of my planned stories takes place in a school and even then it would have only been a small part of the plot near the beginning.

It really does need more sci-fi/fantasy and real world locations, characters, clothing and items to fit the parameters I require.

For now, I'll keep my money as it would be more useful for my trip to Japan in the middle of October.

Again, you can use image jpegs to create any kind of background you want. And yes, further DLC, including new themes, items, and characters is forthcoming. Thanks

I'm so stoked about this because, as an aspiring artist major, I can use my own characters and drawings in these easy-to-use frames! I'm feelin' jazzed with comic pizazz! I had always had trouble drawing the frames fast enough to get my idea down, but this is really efficient. You can use the 3-D character to record the idea and story and then incorporate your own style and elements!!

Thankyou Crunchyroll! I shall enjoy this to the fullest! =D

It's likely that those people experience the greatest benefit from this program, but I am an artist who can draw and am loving the program nevertheless. Currently by comparison to drawing, it is a bit limited (primarily since they're still working on implementing the import 3D models in the english version, my only remaining limitation), but it's easy to manipulate things to break past any such limitations. Moving from doing everything by hand to using this movable type feels like quite an upgrade in efficiency.
