The curiosity bug bite me.

It's a mystery why some individuals like typing that way. It feels like a few points of my IQ depletes when I try r3AdiN stuf lyk d1s.

I won't read anything typed as the original post - I will not waste my time. I actually deleted someone from my friend list because they couldn't ever type a complete sentence without abbreviating half of it. It would take me longer to read and decipher what she was trying to say than what it was worth. I can't figure out why someone who is typing in a forum would want to shorten their words to "2day" and "u" and "r" instead of just typing out the actual words "today" and "you" and "are" - it took me two extra seconds...
I can kind of understand this shorthand on a phone, but I have never texted that way myself and won't. My phone isn't even one with a keyboard and I have never needed to text in that manner. It would take me longer to purposefully type words that way.

And I have never understood adding a "z" in place of a "s" on words like "thankz" or "waz" or "cuz" (instead of because) - this doesn't make anyone look cool, it looks illiterate.
By the way, I play online video games and see people typing with abbreviations - I use some myself, but pretty much only in the game. Using them when other people might not understand that "brb" means "be right back" or "ttyl" means "talk to you later", is downright rude to the person you are trying to hold a conversation with. Not to mention if you are actually trying to convey an actual thought, it might be wise to communicate properly with the person you are speaking to instead of acting cute.

I can thoroughly commiserate with those from other countries that don't speak or type english natively - I have no problem with phonetically sounding out a word. Some people from other countries type english better than some of our US high school graduates. It is infuriating to say the least.
I guess if I haven't said it already, people who can't type properly bug me...

actually (no offense), they're much more annoying, because they even have the nerve to replace some letters with numbers in a word. NUMBERS! what the hell? by the way, I wouldn't say a lot of black people. that's just rude. I'd just say the gangster-wannabes. :3

I see where everyone is coming from, and yes they are from beelzbub. While watching the show, afterwards I like to read the comments to see what others though of the episode, and the same person kept commenting in "text speech" fashion. It just hit me, WTF would cause someone to type like that. They might want to come out with a "text speech" auto checker.

Are you purposely trying to be ironic?

10 years ago, I would have been the Grammar Gestapo, insulted someone would not bother to take the time to write correctly; it was akin to speaking with a mouthful of Cap'n Crunch, as far as I was concerned.

Now, I make an effort to be more tolerant, given the texting others have already mentioned, and I'm older and more patient altogether. Someone buddied me, actually, who types like that - even went out of his way to decorate his user profile with the stuff - and every so often, he'll type normally, so I tend to wonder if it's natural or feigned, but whatever. *shrug* I just let it go.

ahahahahahahahaha. funny stuff. what a coinkydink, i was just thinking about watching beelzebub and i saw this.

ok well, on topic, using "dis" for "this' and "des" for what i think means "these" is just so annoying. the voice in my head normally does not think like that.
usually, though, i don't really mind when people type like that to shorten words. i do it sometimes myself actually when i misspell stuff and am too lazy to go back to fix it. im only pissed if it gets too hard to decipher, or includes numbers.

but if the comment makes me laugh, whether out of the sheer idiocy or its wittiness, i'm okay with it.

Some people like to shorten words either for them to type faster or they think it's cool. I never do that though, I only abbreviate stuff that has actual abbreviations and such. It might affect my writing if I made myself use "Text Type" style a lot.

Some of my classmates in High school had that problem. We were asked to make essays and some of them got in trouble since they spelled some of their words in text type.

Honestly, I have no idea. Are they trying to be creative? I know I write like that sometimes, for example: "cuz we ain't fonna dowit", because I want to mess around, but oh my gosh, stop it, please! It's not that I hate them for typing in that manner, It's just that I get annoyed with it. Possibly the main reason is because I am a fastidious person. I would also like to know the accommodations of why people prefer to type in this way of manner. I am just as curious myself. Maybe I should ask my friends. They all type similar to what has been previously seen.
