Why do you think some parents try to take over there kids wedding and plan everything? Tell them how to dress, what day to get married and more?

Whats your thoughts on this? Also what would you do if your parents or anyone try to take over your wedding day on you and plan everything?

Their little munchkin is all grown up and the day is about "letting go" for them I imagine. I thought they "let go" when I went to Uni

My Mum would probably want a Barbie doll wedding for me with white ponies n shit....whereas I want a plain, simple wedding on a beach. Maybe in Thailand or someplace exotic where the hen party/stag parties can be extra special. I'm always gonna be a party animal, so my wedding should be one giant party!

I wouldn't care if they take over my wedding. I'm too lazy to plan something big like that anyway.

Probably because chances are, they're paying for it. Besides, they have experience in that area, and they realize how stressful weddings can be.

Maybe their own wedding sucked, and they want to relive the perfect wedding through yours.

At least that's what my mom would do.

MBTI preference? They're strong TJ's. There could also be some cultural influence involved in there...

because they've already done it, so they think there pro at it.

Good for them, I am too lazy for plannings. I go with the flow.

To me its ok to have some input to it and give some ideas for it but to take complete over and to the point were they say what dress you can and cant where, how to have your hair, makeup, shoes and more that to me is to much. I would be grateful for the help with paying the wedding but not so happy with point of taking over where I have no say in it at all.

That's why I'd rather have a private or quickie wedding. I don't want family members of ether side to tell me and fiance to tell us how to do anything.

Damn it, first post already said it. Yup, it's pretty the parent's last chance to control their kids, and last chance to say goodbye.
