Tsubasa, and X/1999 for me, too gloomy.

Kobato.

The One I Love is a little dull but it's a collection of short stories so that's to be expected. I guess for a full story I would have to say Tsubasa or The Man of Many Faces they are just clique and silly.

Wish: I didn't like the gender confusion in the translation, ugh, and Chobits. Chobits was a staple 'tofu' girlfriend who ran around like a toddler with no pants on.

I wish we could have met with the feelings we eventually developed.

Chobits and I didn't really care for koboto either

Wish: I didn't like the gender confusion in the translation, ugh I didn't think it was that distracting. I thought it was kind of interesting that angels and devils didn't really have a gender but I can see where it would be a distraction. |

I didn't like how some rolled it as a girl, then a boy, then a girl. I didn't mind the 'genderless', but I wish it was kept as such and not made into another angel girl gets bf. haha, or angel guy gets bf. Depends on which version you read :P I'm all for yaoi or whatever, but I thought it was cool they were actually genderless and not the Mass Effect version of -genderless- which translated too, all women who birth girls, but we call it genderless because other women are okay too *hits Bioware with rolled up newspaper* |

(I own the Tokyopop releases.) The Japanese language has so many different ways to address gender that I feel like it makes more sense when reading when an understanding of it's original meaning. I'll agree that "angel gets a bf" part did feel a little half-a$$ but I also put that to story restraints. Maybe with one or two more volumes (and less 'everyone is beautiful' artwork) things could have gotten explained a little better. I did really like the ending however! |

My least favorite CLAMP manga is Clover. I gave it up when I was halfway through it.

Tsubasa... I used to love it, until thinking it over, and realizing how stupid it actually is. Besides, it ruined Sakura, Syaoran, and SxS for me. CCS = waaaaaaay better.

You hit the nail on the head, I agree that Syaoran and Sakura's Tsubasa versions were too different from their CCS counterparts.

I had so many problems with the Angelic Layer manga. (The spoiler contains important plot points and a comparison to the Anime version. You have been warned.)
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide The mother avoids her daughter because she's really shy. REALLY?! How the HECK did the mother have a daughter in the first place if she's SHY?! The Anime made it more believable as to why the mother avoided her daughter by making her handicapped. She has some problem with her legs and wants to get her legs fixed before she faces her daughter. I can find that scenario much more believable. (I know there really is a psychological disorder in Asian countries where people are overly shy, but I can't remember what it's called.) Maybe it's because I'm from a Western country, but the whole "I can't see my daughter because I'm too shy to see her" really bothered me. That's the only CLAMP manga that I've read that really irritated me. Most other CLAMP works have not annoyed me at the level that the Angelic Layer manga did. The Anime is so much better. |

I agree, this a rare occasion where the anime surpasses the manga. |
