Hanasaku Iroha was a great show and my sundays now feel empty without it =(

My only gripe with it was the disconnect between what the viewer sees regarding the relationship between Ohana and Ko-chan, and what the characters are apparently feeling. Fortunately at no point did this relationship become a really central part of the plot (I actually spent the entire second half of the series dreading them suddenly making the show about Ohana and Ko-chan...). Overall I think it was a very well done show. As far as the other work done by P.A. Works I'd say this is probably a solid 3rd behind True Tears and Angel Beats! (although I have yet to finish Canaan, only 2 eps in on that). Both of those shows were truly powerful, while this one was more of just a well told story.

I was also happy to see the news that they're planning some kind of additional work as was linked above. An OVA would be really fun to watch.

Oh, one thing that I really loved about the show was the opening music they used. The songs felt like they really fit the mood of the show, and somehow the singer's voice just felt perfect to me. I usually only watch a show's opening once and then skip past it on future episodes, this show I watched it every time ;D

It was an amazing show and I could re-watch it anytime.

And I hope it will get released here in the UK on dvd. Or at least in USA on Blu-Ray REGION FREE. And I will be happy!

This show is actually pretty good. There are alot of drama and the supporting casts are performed very well especially Minko. Character development also was strong along with some of the storylines. As of most 2010-2011 animes, it has amazing animation imo. There is some romance although not explicted explored as much as other romance series.

I heard that there's a spinoff manga based on Minko Tsurugi as the main character that came out in early July this year called Hanasaku Iroha: Green Girls Graffiti. Might try reading that soon. As for the series, I might even consider rewatching.

Oh, and also according to Animenewsnetwork, Hanasaku Iroha will be getting a new "visual work" as I guess an anime series produced in 2012. No information on the story plot of this although I suspect it might be a sequel or the a spinoff based on Minko.

Not much to add to what's already been said-- I loved this series too. It was an every Sunday activity for my wife and I to watch this together, and something to specifically look forward to during the week. I kind of thought it ended well enough as it was, though I have to say I wouldn't mind a second season if indeed one gets made (I guess we'll see what that 2012 project actually is-- full series, ova or whatever). I've bought a few of the art books from this series, and the advertising content in them mentions the Green Girls Graffiti spin-off manga, which apparently focuses on Minko.

Incidentally, the text from the picture in the ANN article linked to previously talks about a story of Minko and Nako before they met Ohana-- is that the subject of the Green Girls Graffiti manga, or this new 2012 animation (or both)?

Hmm, not 100% sure but I'm guessing it's probably the spinoff based on the manga. It looks like Minko and Nako will most likely be main characters with Ohana probably becoming one of the minor or supporting casts. New characters may also be included as well. I have not read the spinoff manga so I have no idea what the storyline will be thou
