Maybe I'm missing it but what happened to the 'favorites' option? I would just click that to view my fav anime but now I have to search them all again so they show at the top. Plus that was how I knew a new episode was available.

Yes you are behind the times, they got rid of it earlier this month for the queue function I personally liked the favorites but when it comes to Roku I like seeing the top ten in my queue since it's quicker to see what ep I left off at.

It couldn't have been that long ago. I watched Blue Exorcist last week on my Roku and it didn't show the new screen yet. I still clicked favorites and watched it.

And I meant 'missing it' as in the favorites option on the new Roku screen, not missing that they changed it. That's why I'm in this post. XD

Yours displays it centered with black on the sides, whereas mine doesn't. It stretches it to the width of the screen, which ends up cutting off the top and the bottom.

I have no idea what "overscan" is so I couldn't tell you if my TV is probably doing that or not. I also don't have the newest Roku, I have the older cheaper one, Roku XD. I dunno what one you have so I don't know if that's possibly a problem with limited settings options or something.

I didn't think to try to fix it in my settings on my TV as everything else I've played on my Roku, whether it's CR 16:9 animes or other applications, plays just fine. I did end up going to my TV settings though and the only "solution" I found was to raise the placement of the picture up. Frustrating that I have to cut off more of the top of the picture, but I guess it works for now.

If you don't have the black pillar boxes on the sides, that is most likely a setting on your TV. Some people hate the black bars and opt to stretch the image out, but personally, I don't like watching people that look fat and circles that look like ovals.

My Roku is the same generation as yours, but one model above, the XD|S, and therefore should have all the same settings. On the Roku, when I go into "settings" and then "display type", I have the choice of four displays:

1. 4:3 standard
2. 16:9 anamorphic
3. HDTV 720p
4. HDTV 1080p

My HDTV has an actual resolution of 1366 x 768, so I have it set for #3 (HDTV 720p), which is actually 1280 x 720. (Manufacturers commonly use panes with the slightly higher 1366 x 768 resolution for better compatibility with computers).

If your HDTV is a 1080p model (1920 x 1080 resolution), #4 would be the correct choice.

If that isn't the problem, let me know the brand and model of your HDTV, and I will see if I can find out what the proper setting is to assure overscan is not in effect. You may even have a control for it on the remote. See if it has an "Aspect" or possibly a "Zoom" button, and cycle through the different settings it offers.

Overscan was something necessary back in the days of CRT televisions. Due to the curvature of the picture tube, especially on older sets, it was necessary to push the picture beyond the visible boundaries to keep from having black areas on all four sides of the image. It is really unnecessary on flat panel displays, but a lot of manufacturers still do it.

Why couldn't CR just work with the fruit company to get this on AppleTV?

I am still thinking of getting a Roku.

I don't like this new interface and would prefer an option to get the old one back. Sure, it adds a lot of "eye candy" but it feels like it takes much longer to get to the stuff I want to watch. The "Loading..." time feels at least doubled.

Needing to arrow over on an on-screen keyboard to type stuff in to search? Ugh, no thanks.

An entire section on the main page dedicated to a list of shows that does not contain a single one I'm watching? It's not even a copy of the "Current Simulcast" list. Remove please.

The "recently watched" list is completely useless - why would I want to re-watch something I just finished watching? It does not even allow you to go to the next show in the series - you need to hunt through the list to try and find which one was the last (as it lists multiple eps from the same series) and then go down and "Browse" for that series to get to the next episode. If the series is in your queue allowing you to skip the "browse" part, what's the point of listing it a 2nd time on the main screen? This section needs to do what the "Queue" does and bring you to the list of episodes for that series (and not the specific episode screen) with that episode pre-selected.

Where's the "Browse Alphabetically" category?

While this last one is not Roku-app specific, why is the Queue not pre-populated with all the shows from the old Favorites list as it is simply said list renamed? It's really annoying having to re-make that list.

you should rewatch your anime
I watched the new baka and test that came out yesterday twice to make sure I didnt miss anything
not to mention rewinding a few times
not all anime is worth rewatching so, yeah, no need for a huge queue

I think the new layout is great... I love that it tracks what you've been watching, and I no longer have to scroll through all the most recent episodes to get to the one I'm watching... always hated seeing all the titles of the later episodes (possibly containing spoilers) just to get to the episode I wanted to watch!

I like the new UI for the most part. I would really like to see the thumbnails while fast forwarding. Does that only happen on certain clips? Only certain Roku models (I have the Roku2 XS)? I haven't watched Bleach. I have watched some Level E and haven't seen the thumbnails.
This is one of the places that Netflix really shines. I can skip over intros and know where I'm going to land without having to jump a number of times.

Due to hardware concern, we initially set 10 as the limit for both Search and Queue. Seeing no problem reported by you guys, we have upped the limit to 50 for both Search and Queue. Let us know if you run into issues.
