I am a Roku 2XS user, and have been for awhile. The only improvements the CR App needs is the ability to rate animes via the 5 star system, and when I click on an episode or series I'd like to be able to read the full summary/synopsis. Great app besides that, no problems.

I totally agree about being able to read the full summery for videos. Also, I'm getting impatient for 720p.

Hello

I have been a CR subs for a few years now, and the one thing that always bothers me is the complete lack of video quality in the Roku Ap. I own 3 Rokus and I use them extensively, I am also a funimation sub and the video quality there completely blows CR away (Roku) . We were promised better streaming quality a long while ago, it hasnt happened, yet I just read on the forums that the ps3/xbox cr app will feature 720p videos, I love CR but us Roku owners are getting shafted here...

I am thinking of getting one, can it stream anime really well? Also, do you have to be a member to watch episodes on this?

I would recommend buying a Roku. I bought my Roku just to watch Crunchyroll on my tv. It's faster for me than a computer because all I have to do is turn on the tv and Roku then load the app. I personnally believe that the Roku is the best way to stream Crunchyroll on the TV than a PS3 or Xbox. Their app is fast, responsive, and pretty sleek and pretty. It's easy to navigate, fast forward, backwards. Some cons of it are there is no HD yet and if an episode just came out on simulcast, subtitles may take a while (1-2 hours) to appear on the Roku or else you will watch it nude with out subtitle. Also the Roku box has other good anime sources like Manga and Funimation. The Funimation app is slow and laggy though...

For the apps, you don't need a membership. If you don't have a membership, you can watch the shows but with only one dot of qualtiy (two does if you have premium) and you have to watch an ad. It's pretty decent and better than funimation.

Roku is so cool it has a ethernet if you want it hard lined. Though I keep thinking it isgoing to be pulled off the little stand I have it on. I have the 2 XS, it is the lightest thing ever. You can get Crunchyroll, Hulu, (Angry Birds Game!) on it and tons of stuff. With Roku and XBox Live I Don't watch normal t.v. or cable at all. Those who like the old sci-fi or thriller movies you can find them on there for free! you can get netflix on there to and you can look to see what "channel" (just like apps) you will find your favorite movies or shows on. Pandora One, Vudu, TuneIn(:D Free), The MAN CHANNEL( free), MANGA( FREE) and midnight pulp ( FREE) are just some things on it. Some of the ones I named you do have to have a plu$ membership to, but there are a LOT of free stuff. You spend the one time like 70$ or 80$ or so on Roku, (depending on need or want - entertainment is a survival need .) then get the "channels" to the things you already subscribe to, plus the free ones that you (and maybe the ones that others) like, then you are not paying any extra. It is SOOOOO nice being able to Sit On My bed and relax to music or anime. My Mister Loves the scary or bloody movies. Roku is MADE for Streaming it even out does the XBox 360 most the time.

Will there be any plans to implement this for the WD TV Live Hub?

Has anyone been having problems streaming on Roku lately? Recently, I've only been getting the Crunchyroll channel to load videos at quality 1 of 4 when it used to be 2 of 4, it stops to buffer during shows (sometimes a few times when it used to only do it at the start), and it takes a long time to buffer when it does stop. It's definitely not my bandwidth -- I actually just upgraded to a 50Mbps download service from 15Mbps and it's still happening. I tried rebooting the Roku (unplug, wait, plug in), but that didn't clear things up. I am using WiFi rather than Ethernet, but I can play videos just fine on my PC using WiFi, so I don't think the method of connecting is the problem. This does not seem to be a problem with other channels I watch, like Netflix, so it seems like it's something with Crunchyroll in particular. Does anyone have additional information about what may be causing this and how to fix it? Thanks!

When you upgraded, did you get a new router and modem as well? If so, you might have to go through the reset process again. If not, that's probably the issue. Also, if you can hardwire your Roku I would suggest doing it. I'm still using a first generation Roku box and it never lags.

Go check out the Roku Help section of these forums and you will see that this is happening to a lot of us Roku users. You will also see crunchyroll employee replies claiming that the problems are caused by the fact that they are working on a new Roku App and streaming method which is causing problems with the current Roku ecosystem.
