A completely revamped Crunchyroll App is available on Roku now!

The only improvements the CR App needs is the ability to rate animes via the 5 star system, and when I click on an episode or series I'd like to be able to read the full summary/synopsis. Great app besides that, no problems. I totally agree about being able to read the full summery for videos. Also, I'm getting impatient for 720p. |

Hello
I have been a CR subs for a few years now, and the one thing that always bothers me is the complete lack of video quality in the Roku Ap. I own 3 Rokus and I use them extensively, I am also a funimation sub and the video quality there completely blows CR away (Roku) . We were promised better streaming quality a long while ago, it hasnt happened, yet I just read on the forums that the ps3/xbox cr app will feature 720p videos, I love CR but us Roku owners are getting shafted here... |

I am thinking of getting one, can it stream anime really well? Also, do you have to be a member to watch episodes on this?

I bought my Roku just to watch Crunchyroll on my tv. It's faster for me than a computer because all I have to do is turn on the tv and Roku then load the app. I personnally believe that the Roku is the best way to stream Crunchyroll on the TV than a PS3 or Xbox. Their app is fast, responsive, and pretty sleek and pretty. It's easy to navigate, fast forward, backwards. Some cons of it are there is no HD yet and if an episode just came out on simulcast, subtitles may take a while (1-2 hours) to appear on the Roku or else you will watch it nude with out subtitle. Also the Roku box has other good anime sources like Manga and Funimation. The Funimation app is slow and laggy though... For the apps, you don't need a membership. If you don't have a membership, you can watch the shows but with only one dot of qualtiy (two does if you have premium) and you have to watch an ad. It's pretty decent and better than funimation. |
