How do you rate anime, hopefully this will become sticky what do you care about what don't you care about:

for me here is what i came up with so far:

Name of anime:
year of anime:
Studio of anime:
visuals of anime:
a)style:
b)feel visual about anime?: In other word i have a friend who hates most of the newer anime styles
Story-line of anime:

That about all i can think of right now, i don't think that you could do this for every episode then again you might be able to. Can you image trying to do each episodes for say bleach or naruto, I'm thinking excel spreadsheet to because you can search by fields then.

Studio X sucks all they produce is not worth watching, studio y rocks they make good anime so what do you think bad idea, good idea what are some ways that you rate a anime?

Thanks
Bzald

How I rate an anime:

1. Storyline (meaningful, creative, fun, basically just something good and worth my time)
2. Characters (looks, voices, characteristics, development, etc)
3. Visuals (graphic designs, styles, quality, etc...I personally don't like the newer anime styles)
4. Audio (voices, music, openings, endings, sound effects, etc)

That's about it I guess? Not much more to say.

Story
Character development, especially in Romance and the like
Animation, though it accounts for a small fraction of my overall rating

"Name of anime"

"Year of anime"

I'm not studio, voice actor, etc bias

I use Microsoft Access(2010) to keep track of what anime I've watched/plan to watch, rating(s) can be easily applied/added.

I have this posted at my website and I pretty much go by it all the time.

My criteria for rating a show, not in any order;
character designs,
production designs,
plot, plot devices, or lack thereof,
theme or lack thereof,
Re-watch-ability.

the complete text is here... http://www.animeonnazuki.com/oppine.html

As with so much in anime as well as any TV or movie, the way I feel or the things that I am thinking about at the time can make a difference.

I remember liking Hyper Police quite a lot and then the characters all got laid off, then I got laid off... Never took another look at that show since. It was a little too much like real life for me at the time. All the things that can make a difference in our own lives can make our opinions of any show tilt one way or another.

How I rate anime:
1) Story... Is it interesting/engaging/unique?
2) Characters... Are they well thought out, fully developed and not irritating?
3) Is it well drawn... I hate jerky animation and badly drawn scenes >:(
4) Voice acting... Is it convincing?
5) Character interaction... Are there complicated friendships, rivalries, romantic interests? Or are the relationships one dimensional and not properly explored throughout the story?
6) Can I relate to the characters... Please don't make me watch an anime about fifth graders. I'm 16. I don't care about fifth graders.

I think that's about it
