Gonna have to agree on winsomemastix's points about Takaki, too. He had a very half-hearted way of doing things in spite of the way he felt which isn't a very admirable trait, though I can't say that I don't like him or anything - it's more like my feelings for and about him are neutral because he was just "there" doing "whatever". He hit a certain point in his development and stopped. That's it.

It's kind of a shame Akari didn't get more exposure, since it would've been interesting to see how things went on her end. She managed to move on unlike Takaki, but you have to wonder what was going on with her side of things when contact stopped and if she made any effort. Though I could understand her apprehensive in contacting him again after an extended period of time. That brings up the question, though: Who stopped the contact first? Someone has to, because someone had to send the last letter. I can't recall if we were given that detail.

Kind of feel like I went off-topic, sorry. >.> Anyway... I guess I'm gonna have to agree and say Kanae was my favorite character. For her exposure for all of one chapter she went a long way. You really do have to feel for her when she realizes that she can't confess to Takaki because he's too far away from her.

Kanae. Though she stuggled, after Takaki left, she eventually became strong.

Takaki. I like how he felt nostalgic in the last episode. I feel like that sometimes, too. And then I smile like he did.

well i loved all three, Takari, Atari, and Kanae. but if i had to choose between the three, i think it would have to be Takari. he reminds me of myself on how its hard for me to let go. i would always think about that person and such. while watching the movie i always wanted to comfort Takari.
as for Atari, i think shes adorable. i admire how she was patiently waiting for Takari in the train station. but i didnt like how she "moved on" and married someone else,
as for Kanae, i feel for her. i could also relate to her like w/ Takari. but i admired how she decides to let him go. shes a pretty strong character.

I quite like Atari. But all characters are memorable in their own way
