Crappy Soul Eater Ending
Posted 9/28/11 , edited 8/13/16
Ok, so I just finished watching Soul Eater, and the ending pissed me off. Does anyone else agree that the ending sucked and that they should have made a second season?!

Awesome anime, crappy ending, really what's new? Yet you're kind of late with this one. I remember that ending. I nearly faced palmed with the whole "defeating the enemy with the power of courage" thing. Not only that, but how they overpowered the main character by giving her all these new powers at the last possible second with none of them being used nor mentioned beforehand was pretty lame.

Heellll yes!! That was a terrible ending, yet not as bad as the endings for school rumble. The fight scene with Mifune was cool but altering the end result like that really felt unprofessional, though I can see to what motive this would serve. The manga portrayed a very emotional ending for Black * Star's fight and can tie in a side story for later between Black * Star's party and Angela (considering that he is the one who killed her guardian). Where as the anime allows for a happier ending for child rearing Mifune and Angela but not just that this also allows the current staff to develop a new storyline completely where Mifune is a teacher.(Mifune living was probably just a mistake though)

At Ginkou-san: Don't you mean Deus ex Maka punch.

That's kind of the point of most shonen anime. After you find replace courage with whatever the show uses; love, spirit, manliness .... baking. I will admit to the ending being a little weak and formulaic but I was expecting it because that's what the genera it comes from is like.

Just looking at the plot of the anime, and setting the manga aside for a bit, there isn't a need for another season. Everyone got their story tolled and the team triumphed over the big bad that was the focal point of the whole thing. Pulling the manga back into it, you could make a reboot of the show that is closer to the manga but I don't think that Soul Eater sold enough in Japan or the US to warrant that. And I think that the bad turn out of FMA: Brotherhood companies are going to hold off on remaking shonen shows that recent just so they are closer to the manga.

Really if you are unhappy with the anime then follow advice of the other posts and just read the manga. You never know the manga sells are what could turn the tide on the reboot/new season/whatever.

Stupid question, but does anyone know if the repeat show has the same ending or did they change it?

Edit: Grammar correction.

Whats the point of doing a repeat show if they`re going to do the exact same thing.
The repeat show is to change some things that were bad in it, so the ending is probably better :P

Ok so since it got cancelled it didn`t have a better ending

I was under the impression that FMA: Brotherhood did well enough in Japan, and certainly did in the United States (as a broadcast license alone if often enough to push a series into the "successful commercial venture" category).

Also, if that were the case, how do you explain the new Hunter x Hunter?

idk there is enough of a niche audience for them to sell Soul Eater T-shirts in Hot topic....... I bought one.

FMA: Brotherhood did do well as a show but it was no where near the numbers as the first one, which is what they were going for. They were trying to match, if not exceed the previous numbers and didn't. That's what I mean when I say FMA: Brotherhood didn't preform like they wanted.

As for Hunter x Hunter I haven't watched the new one or the old one so you got me there.

That's just because Hot topic will attempt to sell anything if they think overly spoiled high school wannabe misanthropes will buy it. That is a really nice shirt though.
Also I think the position of your flash is funny.

They should totally remake the Soul Eater anime once the manga is finished like they did with FMA, and call it Soul Eater: Resonance

That idea is... pretty good, actually. I haven't read the manga, but a friend who has swears it is better than the anime. Since they apparently cancelled the Repeat Show, I don't think we'll see it happen.
