You are trained to be more sociable if you attend school................go to school, don't be a burden to your parents, after all, they will only be free from taking care of you when you are 21 or 18.

I searched thru the fourms and theres one on home-schooling but mines a lil different. I wanna ask if you were given the chance to be home-schooled by your parent or be in regular/public school then which would you choose?

I have had three types of schooling - home education, public school (private, day and boarding) and briefly, comprehensive school (public school).

Home schooling

PROS:
Personal freedom, control over own academic schedule, different perspectives, alternative ways of learning, flexible choices in forming a curriculum, good opportunity to learn to be self-disciplined .. yeah, it's pretty much all about personal freedom.

CONS:
Isolation, boredom, lack of daytime social interaction, some visiting tutors who didn't bother turning up most times, having to take exams at random unfamiliar schools, it can be expensive, have to make more effort to keep in touch with old school mates, lack of good forums that aren't cluttered up with moronic pro-homeschool supporters, it can be hard to motivate self to study ... the list is endless.

Public (private) school
It's the opposite of home schooling. Rigid academic schedule, heavy pressure to do academically well, strict rules, great social interaction, and so on.

Don't have much to say about comprehensive school as it lasted only a fortnight. Didn't do much academic work. Spent most time messing about with class mates. Teachers seem to be overworked and pretty much hassled as figures of fun/mockery by their pupils. Yeah, don't have much to say about state schools.

So, with all that in mind, public school wins. Hands down.

Home schooling is great if you plan on working from your home the rest of your life. Kids need to be exposed to the realities of the real world.

Public/Private Schools ftw. Being home-schooled doesn't give you the benefits of meeting new people.
