I searched but I could't find this question on the forums so sorry if it's already been asked.

Does the anime on the site expire after a certain period of time or does it last forever? I know sites like Hulu and Netflix can only stream certain shows for a certain amount of time and I was wondering if this site is the same?

Thanks

Yes anime does expire due to licensing restrictions. Like Panty and Stocking, Deadman Wonderland, Sora no Otoshimono, and a couple more. As much as I want all the series to stay on here forever it just isn't possible.

Well how long do they last? And is there some kind of warning that announces that they will expire soon?

But is there an exact amount of time each series lasts or are they all different?

There are different show that last different. Some last like always others (fairy tale) last only a couple of weeks. I think crunchy still needs to figure out a good way to show how long a show will still air.

A show in danger of expiring will typically list this on the show page. For example, on the show page for Fairy Tail, it states:

All videos will only be available on Crunchyroll for 30 days from the date of its initial airing.

When Crunchyroll gives notice in the Site News section of the forum, so it is advisable to check there on a regular basis.

For any series that is licensed from Kadokawa (such as Steins;Gate), I would advise watching these soon after they end, especially if one reads they have been licensed by another company (which also applies to Steins;Gate). Once upon a time, all Kadokawa series used to have a message appear soon after the series completed stating that all episodes would be removed by Kadokawa 30 days after the series aired, but in reality, it should have read "may be removed", as the 30 day limit was rarely enforced. Strike Witches 2, for example, had that warning, but was here at CR for close to a year after airing before it was finally announced it would be removed.
