So, I got an e-mail notification today. Said a user quoted a post of mine and I should "Click here to take a look at it." Did that link bring me to the quoted post like it said it would? Of course not! Instead it brought me to a generic "notification" page where it again said someone quoted me (along with a bunch of other stuff). Did it give me a link there to go to said post? NOPE! Just a nice bold "You have 1 Quoted Forum Post" message with no links whatsoever.

Not wanting to give up, I decided to visit my profile to get a list of posts I've made to try and figure out where I was quoted. Every other forum I've been to has a link to do this. But not CR. Of course!

So, next I go to do a "Search posts by Author." But wait! There is no option to do that either! "Keyword" is the only search allowed and of course it does not look at the author. Wonderful.

Here I was thinking those "Achievement" e-mail notifications were the only completely useless ones (they could at least tell you what the achievement is). I'm glad to see the others are equally as useless. I didn't want to completely disable e-mail notifications as the only options are "all or "none" with no way of saying "send me everything but those useless achievement ones," but since it looks like all notifications are useless I might as well disable them completely.

Oh well, all notifications are now disabled. /Rant off

I see someone's a little upset.
Forum quote false alarm. Got your hopes up, huh?

Not really. I'm just tired of the SPAM. Plus when the text says one thing and the link actually takes you somewhere else is really annoying.

Not being able to view a users' posts is the best? Not being able to restrict searches to author or by date is the best? Vague e-mail notifications that don't tell you much of anything or don't take you where they say they're going to are the best? Ok, whatever.

Well the support rep. said already that the search engine is going to be revamped. As for your quote problems. Well I aggree, I had the same problem. Someone quoted me and I klicked on the link in hope to get direktly there, but I could get there from the page you stated it linked to. So it seams that the post with the quote doesn't exist anymore. Also I don't understand that "Not being able to view a users' posts is the best?"

As for the "SPAM", you can switch off your notifications under Account Settings.

I was being sarcastic. When you view someone's profile on a vBulletin or phpBB forum, it gives you a link to view all posts from that user. CR does not have a link like that.

And yes, I now have that #@$%& useless notification disabled. They actually changed the setting since I last checked and you can disable individual notification types. Yay, my #1 irritation is no more!

Sometimes people delete their posts, so it ends up being a false alarm. So I suggest abit of understanding before RAEGQUITE anything.
