Slipknot is not Heavy Metal, they are Nu Metal.
Heavy Metal is bands like Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest etc.
Same with SOAD. They are also Nu Metal.

Also, Parkway Drive is not Death Metal, they're Metalcore.

You need to make some alterations to that list. :P

My personal favorites:

Metal: It encompass all subgenres of metal. Impossible to choose just one.

Heavy Metal: None, because I don't listen to Heavy Metal.

Death Metal: Vader.

Groove Metal: Don't really listen to this subgenre either, but if one, I choose DevilDriver.

Nu Metal is SO an actual genre.
If you don't think so, you know very little about Metal.
Metal has different subgenres. Different types of Metal. Metal itself is just the umbrella term for one of the most varied genres of music in the world.

You do know Eluveitie is Folk Metal right?
Also, In Flames are Alt. Metal. They haven't been MDM since like, their second or third album.

I don't bother messing with grouping bands in sub genres. There's always going to be some 'new' thing, you know? Being a drummer, I do listen to about anything, but metal is the majority of my collection. Opeth, Dream Theater, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Dimmu Borgir, Amorphis, As I Lay Dying, King Diamond, Tiamat. Really doesn't fit the thread but oh well.

I like those weird metal bands. Probably my favorite is AxCx since the music makes me laugh, and it's short.
