This idea was suggested by Ryuuga, so here it goes: this is a place where you can train to acquire better gfx skills.
There’ll be graphic mods that will give you advices and help you improve. All you have to do is to post your works and follow up our advices.
The reward for this training will be that you’ll become a mod here on Aya Creation – you’ll be on probation first for two weeks and after that you’ll become a full fledged graphic mod ( if you maintain or surpass your skills ).

Feel free to ask for any kind of advice from our mods here and as soon as possible we’ll try to answer you.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!

cool idea ^^... i think i hav something i could use advice for:

◘ I think I am pretty much used to textures and stuff. But it just seems so messy sometimes, and so I can't make them fancy yet "clean" lol.
◘ and my text is totally uncreative
◘ compared to some avis here, mine are like.. bright xD . i might want to darken them a bit . . .

this is probably one of the few i am satisfied with xD although i know there is always room for ..improvement in there ._.

1. well u certainly have a different style. i know what u mean by "bright" to make it dark, its good to use photoshop actions
or if you have gimp, then u can download psd's which creates a whole new look for the pic. (it makes the pic lighter or darker
depending on the psd u use).

2. i agree, your textures are everywherexD it's good to keep things nice and clean. start off with something simple, like
where you wanna place the pic and how you want it to "show" it,and then work your way up to adding textures etc....
because most of your works are cramped with textures, and it's covering the pic.

3. i wouldn't say the text is "uncreative" since you have a variety of different fonts you use
but sometimes, the most simple fonts are the best. And i see you use a lot of text textures/brushes on your works.
When you have a long text, it's best to keep it to a minimum or text textures, because that just makes it look messier. whereas if your
text was short such as 1 word, than it's good to put a few text textures..but never overload that it fills the whole thing.

P.S-- remember, the important thing of editing the pic is to show the pic, not the stuff you use.
Make your picture stand out more than your resources:)

ahh..sorry for writing alot:/

I can’t say that it’s no good, but I also can’t say that I like it. The background it’s too crowded, the text doesn’t look nice and it’s too bright!
I know that everyone has different styles and ways of making graphics, so , now I’ll tell you how I would have done it. You can take it as an advice if you want.
First of all, the background it’s too crowded; I would have made a darker background ( not black, but something darker ) and used less textures ( maybe something nice with flowers ).
For the text it would have worked better a calligraphic font and some effects like drop shadow and bevel and emboss.
In the end I would have applied an action or psd coloring. I always use actions at the end and play with them till they look good.

First of all you should work more on blending the image with the background. There are tutorials that you can watch and try out.
Also pay more attention to the image you use and the kind of resources that fit best that image.
In the end, try using some other effects on the text … that stroke doesn’t look so good. Try using a thinner stroke or drop shadow. You can also try gradient map or bevel and emboss.

I don’t use Gimp, so I can’t tell you exactly what effects to use ( the name of them ), but I can tell you what should the avatar looked like in my opinion.
For that image a grunge background would have looked better … something with splatter brushes or some grunge-vector brushes. You could have used a displace filter ( if you have that on Gimp too ) on the hair of the boy and erase the parts that didn’t look good ( or something similar with the spattered effect of photoshop ).
Also the text it’s too simple and the font doesn’t match the image. A grungy/distorted one would have looked better.

1. It's better this way than the first try, but still you could have removed the pattern around the girl and make it a bit darker ( you can use levels, curves, color balance or channel mixer for that too ).

2. It's nice, even though the idea is inspired from someone else. The only "mistake" is the text - the white one. If I see well you used blur over it; correct me if I'm mistaken! It's not bad, only that, in that case try to not use drop shadow as an effect to the text. You could have used instead to duplicate your text layer, make the one under a darker color and move it slowly till it looked like a shadow. Or leave it simple if it still doesn't good!

(lol its fine, i like a lot of advice actually xD)

I got the text part clear so thank you for that!

And by "starting off simple", do you mean i should place the picture first and THEN add the textures on top? or should i start with like an actual background b4 putting on the picture...

and yes i use photoshop btw xD

well start of simple is like make it look simplesh, and then if u think it needs to add more stuff
then do it. try to make a couple of simple ones and lets see how that turns out:)
but yeah placing the pic is the first step, and then try to think of a "theme" u want and place the textures rather then
randomly adding textures on.

The lines around the image don't look good and the background doesn't fit well the image. You should have used instead some cute/funny patterns and a big text with some nice effects. And work some more on blending! :P
