For that image a grunge background would have looked better … something with splatter brushes or some grunge-vector brushes. You could have used a displace filter ( if you have that on Gimp too ) on the hair of the boy and erase the parts that didn’t look good ( or something similar with the spattered effect of photoshop ).
Also the text it’s too simple and the font doesn’t match the image. A grungy/distorted one would have looked better.
Nope! D; Gimp Doesn't Have A Displace Filter, Well Not That I Know Of. I Looked And Couldn't Find It. I Have A PS C4 But I Have No Clue How To Use It xD I'm More Experienced With Gimp Than PS. Thanks For The Criticism! :3 I Appreciate It x3 I Just Made A New Avi o; It Doesn't Have Any Text But This Was My Usual Style When I Was On Crunchyroll A Year Ago xD

The lines around the image don't look good and the background doesn't fit well the image. You should have used instead some cute/funny patterns and a big text with some nice effects. And work some more on blending! :P

because most of your works are cramped with textures,and it's covering the pic.
3. i wouldn't say the text is "uncreative" since you have a variety of different fonts you use
but sometimes, the most simple fonts are the best. And i see you use a lot of text textures/brushes on your works.
When you have a long text, it's best to keep it to a minimum or text textures, because that just makes it look messier. whereas if your
text was short such as 1 word, than it's good to put a few text textures..but never overload that it fills the whole thing.
P.S-- remember,the important thing of editing the pic is to show the pic, not the stuff you use.

another thing is..try not to hide the pic too much that only her head is showing...try to show some body parts
unless its just a pic with a headxD i think the font could be different..like theres an empty space in the middle...
try to make the font bigger ..and the purple texture at the top just bugs mexD
but this looks a lot better than the others....keep it up!:)

lol yeah i get what you mean . this pic in particular had part of the body like chopped off xD so yeah i accidently covered a lot.
and i was wondering what to do with that purple texture cuz it was kinda out of there haha

1. It's better this way than the first try, but still you could have removed the pattern around the girl and make it a bit darker ( you can use levels, curves, color balance or channel mixer for that too ).
2. It's nice, even though the idea is inspired from someone else. The only "mistake" is the text - the white one. If I see well you used blur over it; correct me if I'm mistaken! It's not bad, only that, in that case try to not use drop shadow as an effect to the text. You could have used instead to duplicate your text layer, make the one under a darker color and move it slowly till it looked like a shadow. Or leave it simple if it still doesn't good! :D

You still have to work on the background. Try to be more creative! For example with the first avatar it would have worked better a floral background. And you should not have used that stroke around the image. Also pay more attention to the fonts you use.
For the second avatar I would have used some patterns to make more interesting the background and a large text in two colors or filled ( clipping mask ) with a pattern.

On the first one ( pair ) you shouldn't have put the text below and you should have worked more on the blending. But the background and colors are nice. XD
The other one it's not so good. The background doesn't fit the image ... you should have added some other kind of effects: some other type of c4d's and maybe some flower texture or c4d ( there are also c4d with flower elements on DA ). And again more attention on blending!

Well, it depends on the image you use. If, for example, you have an image with a cute girl, then use some textures ( floral and some with frames think that will do the job ). Or you could use some patterns with some interesting and cute designs.
If instead you have a dark image ( not referring exactly of being black - a character that gives a dark aura ) the try using some c4d or abstract wallpapers.
You can also use text brushes if the background looks too empty.
As for the text, I've already mentioned the effects you can use. And yeah, you can try combining different fonts.
