The press release stated: "Digital distribution of MAJIKOI ~ OH! SAMURAI GIRLS will begin next month through many outlets." So I'd expect it to show up on at least one other streaming site.

Don't forget that digital outlets also include download services such as iTunes, Amazon Video, etc..

I expect we will find out soon. If TAN is also going to simulcast it, it is odd enough they would announce after Crunchyroll, but even more odd if it was available and/or started there later.

I'm not sure I'd call it odd. Both FUNimation and Sentai seem a bit slower at getting their simulcasts off the ground at the beginning of each season.

As I recall, No. 6 was also a North America only simulcast on CR before the Sentai license was announced.

A Sentai license being announced after Crunchyroll is nothing out of the ordinary. Neither is a license by Funimation or anyone else, as apparently Crunchyroll doesn't require exclusivity.

Keep in mind in this case, CR is licensing the series from Sentai. (Don't take my word for it, check the listed publisher on the page here for the series). I do not believe you will find any other instance of that. Demon King Daimao was licensed from Marvelous, and No. 6 from Aniplex.

To be clear, what is unusual is:

1. Crunchyroll licensing a simulcast from Sentai.
2. Crunchyroll announcing a simulcast of a series licensed by Sentai (regardless of whom CR licenses it from) before TAN.

This makes the second surprise CR has pulled out this season. The other was the simulcast of Wagnaria!! 2, as I didn't expect them to snag a simulcast where they had failed to obtain a simulcast for the second season, and also stood little chance of obtaining simulcast rights for the first season at the current time.

I was hoping they would pull out a second surprise, but I was hoping it would have been the third Shana series (which I don't expect anyone in North America to simulcast). Given what they've managed thus far, I can't rule it out for a while yet, but it is obvious it would be a delayed start (as it premiered 3.5 hours ago) and possibly a delaycast if they do so.

So, how did they come up with that "Oh! Samurai Girls" part for the name if the Japanese title is: 真剣で私に恋しなさい!! (maji de watashi ni koi shinasai)?

I can already tell that this series will contain absolutely no fanservice whatsoever.

Looks like CR has been desperate to look for simulcasts after Kadokawa dumped him.

Having watched the entire first ep already it didn't stand out to me as having excessive fanservice. Usually I notice and remember that kind of stuff, this show, so far, doesn't seem to be another Freezing or Hyakka Ryouran - Samurai Girls. The show this season that seems to be the excessive boing ecchi is Maken-ki!
