While it would be nice if they took in some of the late people's entries, I'd feel really bad for the 4 who did follow the deadline if one or more of them lose :/

They shouldn't lose. I mean, they DID follow the rules... All 4 of them...

Yeah, that's my point @-@ If the other 3 are accepted, that would be a total of 7 which would mean 2 of the original 4 could lose and I guess I'd just feel bad if that happens. No offense to the others--it's not that their entries were bad or anything, but considering the other 4 actually got their entries in on time, it would be kind of unfair. (Not to mention an "extension" being mentioned after the actual end is kind of unfair in itself)

Hi, it's me again,

So, concerning the contest.
Yes, they we did have only 4 who submitted on time, and it would be bad for that to go unrecognized. But I'm not sure it exactly GUARANTEES that they must be winners or anything. It's still a competition after all, to show off people's ComiPo skills, and gain interest for the program as well as for the manga community.

And yes, I was one of those who submitted late.
I would like to hope that the Contest considers some more healthy competition regarding late entries though. However there is the issue that late entries had more time to work on their manga, and also they aren't showing proper punctuality, but I think most of the late entries were just a few hours over schedule (I'm not so sure about the exact ending time though, it was a bit ambiguous being due either at the end of the 14, or the beginning, and for JP time or not).

Well, may the best manga Win!

Not to try and shoot down those who were late, but... deadlines exist for a reason. I think that if they backpedaled and changed the due date to let more people in, it would literally cheat the 4 of us out of wins, and (hypothetically), Comipo could actually face a lawsuit for changing the deadline to make people who would have won, potentially lose.

I can see how much everyone wants to have their manga recognized for the work they put into them.

I can't argue against that.

Though totally out of the question, I can only hope for the diplomatic solution of "Everyone Wins". Maybe with the addition of more prizes, the original 4 can win, while still giving a chance for the other entries.

I'm sure there will be more contests to come.

Good luck, and great work everyone!

Contest update! We've done it again! The deadline for the Otaku-Verse Zero / Crunchyroll / ComiPo! contest has been extended to 11:30pm PST on JAN/28! Please upload your comics to the Crunchyroll ComiPo! Image Gallery, and mark them "Strange Japanese Schooldays" so we know you are an entry! Thanks and GOOD LUCK!

BULLSHIT!
You can't fucking extend a contest after it's already ended! The deadline already went by!
If I don't win the contest now, I'm filing a lawsuit because I already won the damn contest because I was one of the only 4 people who entered in a contest with 5 winners.

Can you please cut down on the swearing and threatening? I've already gotten several requests to ban you on account of your behavior on these forums, and I've been very patient up until now. We're happy to still consider your entry for the contest, but we're also free to change the rules/deadline at any time. Thanks for your understanding!

No, see, you can't do that. It is illegal that you're extending the deadline after it has ended in the first place.
If I did not win, you will absolutely face a lawsuit, because I DID win the contest.

While I do see both sides, it is unfair to extend a contest once it technically ended I feel bad for the 4 original entries. I don't think it'd have been as big of an issue if you extended it while it was still going, but several days after it was supposed to end is just kind of unfair to those who did enter in time and a bit unprofessional. Though, it's nice to see more chances for others as well. Maybe the amount of winners could be increased as well though, to compensate? (IE: Maybe 10 instead of 5)

And then we only get 8 entries, and were right back to were we started :P. Although I agree that its not really fair on the people who did submit by the original deadline and perhaps this is best remembered as a lesson for next time, both in terms of turnout numbers and how widespread competition knowledge is circulated, at the same time it could also be a good thing for the people who entered already as well as those who didnt. This may just be me, but I think I would feel rather unsatisfied winning on a technicality as opposed to by the merit of my work.

But at any rate, im glad that ive been given a second chance to enter. Not for the prizes, since the items will be available for purchase further down the track and I was never that optimistic about getting first place anyway, but because now I get to see how my manga making prowess stacks up in a competitive environment.

I specifically made a point of interpreting the term "Strange Japanese School Days" differently from the way I predicted that other people would (which thus far has been more or less on the money) because I wanted my entry to be unique, im going to enjoy seeing what effect that has on things. Plus, competing is a great motivator for me, I produced more pages in the last week than I have in the last couple of months.

Well, being optimistic, more could show up Or they could just end it. There's still the Grand Prize so... A friend of mine suggested that they automatically let the 4 win and just add one more from the "late" entries (or maybe a few more slots) or just make the other prize (for the 5) a participant prize with the grandprize the only actual one...but yeah.

I don't really enter contests because my taste is kind of odd and people rarely share it (which always costs me in the end), so yeah.

The fact that it was extended after the deadline has passed were pretty unfair to the ones that made it (I know, tis sounds weak coming from a guy that's actually late in entering his entry), and it does add into the list of stuff that the Comipo! staff didn't handle well.

But, if we can think positively about this; I'll say that this is the perfect chance to redo/add something to your entry. There are some entries that were rushed (like mine), and there might also be some that might have new ideas now that they have seen their competitors' works.

Well, I'm totally set with redoing mine, if not change my whole entry with new ones since I thought mine didn't really fit with theme of "Strange Japanese School Days" and more like "2 strange characters out of 4". I'm pretty sure that changing the entry before the (new) deadline is alright, isn't it?

Now that I think about it, is it okay to submit multiple entry? Of course there should be only one winning entry from one author, since the prize were the same after all.

I was more upset, not by the extension... but how long it had taken to get a clear date after the contest had been announced. Then after that, they extended it. I gave up with the contest because it had no clear rules at the beginning. The forums said to go to the facebook page for more information, the facebook page directed us to the forums.
