Finalists are coming! We are just coordinating some PR efforts behind it.

Also, some news on the 3D data import feature, but I can't say what or when just yet...

Thanks!

There's really no reason why we don't have all of the features available in the Japanese version.

I look forward to it, even if I have to go and buy Metasequoia.

i agree with you there. it doesn't make sense how we don't have them all. what they could've done is just translate the full japanese version to english, and we still have everything. o_o;

My understanding of the situation is that its not exactly that simple. Sure, its possible that they could have just created an English language interface overlay for the program and renamed the contents of the updates for the English version, but that would have no doubt caused compatibility issues with English languages OS's (easy to fix yes, but not everyone knows how to do it).

Second, the difference in 3D file formats. The 3D file that the JP version supports isn't very common for English programs, so no doubt this feature will need to be fully reworked from the ground up to be more accessible to English version users. Im sure there are other complications between the two as well, but computer programming isn't my fort'e so I wouldn't have a clue about those.

Now, im not going to entirely defend the situation, because it seems like some degree of poor business choices were made here. The English version has been confirmed for a good period of time now, so if it were me I would have developed all updates for both the English and Japanese versions simultaneously. Perhaps this was done and the release schedule is going to be staggered, in which case even I can only advise it to stagger faster.

In any case, Im noting that everyone is getting a little edgy about the lack of updates and such, so I just wanted to tell you all that getting angry about it is typically not a good idea because it wont achieve much of anything. For now lets just enjoy the ComiPo we have and let them get their act together on this whole English front, an then we should hopefully see a decent amount of updates in a shorter period of time.

that makes sense. and to be honest, i still have the trial and it's already fun. =]]
i don't know what that 3d stuff everyone is talking about, but i just wondered why the comipo english version didn't get everything like what the japanese have
anyway i'm satisfied with what i have so far, though i still want to get the full version hehe xD

there are ten finalists that we have to vote for, but there are five who will win. we still haven't voted yet, so we can't say who those 5 winners are.

They're just taking too long to decide the 10 finalist. I really wonder when we will hear the news of who's in the top ten in this contest? I mean it's been 6 to 10 weeks since the submission.

I'm not going to demand the staff to hurry or something, but it has been quite a while since there was any news about this contest. And since I'm participating and expecting, it's kinda unnerving to wait without having any update.

I've been making comics using model kits and photoshop for a little while now, and I'm planning to make a project to celebrate my blog's (already late) 1st anniversary. Upon getting the knowledge of this software's existence and this contest, I decided to hold back that project and bet on winning this contest, since I know Comipo! could help me in making comics faster, and also makes better effects.
Also, while testing around with the demo, I got an idea for a series of 4 panels slice-of-life comic/manga (the trial comics I've made is pretty much the prototype for that.).

If anything, I would be grateful if we can get to know the progress of this contest .
At the very least if I know that I didn't make it into the finalist, I can continue on my project with photoshop.

Thank you for your attention .

I think a lot of us are in that situation where we are hoping we win so that we can do stuff with it instead of using other tools.

Point is, an update on the progress or on whether the contest was canceled would be nice.

(They probably just don't want everyone who didn't make it removing their submissions from the site)
