All you young guys and girls, as someone who was bullied pretty harshly through elementary and middle school for liking anime, all I can say is don't be embarrassed. Realize that most of these people have a one sided view of anime. Just do what makes makes you happy and you'll find good friends later in life who'll find you because they know you like anime, and stay because you're an honest person who doesn't try to hide your hobbies and interests.

Have never kept it a secret. Several friends have hectic lives and don't seem to want to devote the time to anime all though a few that I even watched anime with just haven't gotten it but they were women. And lacking in imagination! I bought one friend a Roku to try and get them hooked. Typically it's my guy friends or colleagues who watch anime.

I used to be very quiet about it. But now I've come out of my shell, even posting anime related pictures and such on facebook. In person I'll only tell if someone asks. o3o

Well, all my friends know, due to them questioning me when i started saying things like "Yari, yari.." and "Gomenasai!" and other random Japanese words and phrases.

i LOVE Anime and all maii friends know that i watch it and buy/read Manga.
not all of maii friends are fans of Anime, but mostly because they never actually gave it a chance.
but i've been able to show a few open-minded ones that its uber awesome, but no one that i know of makes fun of meh for it, and if they did i wouldn't care.
