HOTD was a horrible anime that should never have been conceived in the twisted minds of the creators.

but yes...
http://animekida.com/apps/blog/show/6027353-highschool-of-the-dead-season-2-official-anouncement

Did you read that source?:

Good news, there is gona be a season 2 of highschool of the dead Most likely season 2 will be out maybe end of this year or early 2011

Update ; Highschool of the dead comes on winter 2011

Despite the URL and headline on the page itself, there was nothing "official" about this whatsoever.

This was nothing more than rumor a blogger tried to pass off as fact. I expect next the blog will be updated with a claim that the series has been delayed to January 2012.

At this point, no second series has been officially green-lit, which means the odds of it suddenly appearing in January are very low.

The most recent chapter of the manga appears to be #29. As I recall, the series covered events through chapter 17, which would currently leave only 12 chapters for a series. As it is published monthly, assuming there are no breaks, there could be sufficient material for a new series in Summer 2012.

How I can not like it? Oh, let me count the ways.

Derailment of what plot there was, character development muddled by excess fanservice, the art being sub par compared to what was initially advertised, oh yes and the catcher is also what many people like about it. Its creativity in mixing two genres. Ecchi, and survival horror. But it being the parasite it is, the ecchi part eventually takes up too much of the screen time and little else but bewb nunchaku is accomplished.

Yes I think anyone that actually likes it is an idiot. I won't hide it. I couldn't watch it beyond episode 7 and I generally try to be lenient when it comes to things involving zombies.

Now for advice I think will save everyone time: If you want lots of ecchi, be a man and just watch straight up porn. At the very least it doesn't go around pretending to have a plot and the fans don't try to sell there is more then just sex sales contributing to it.

Loved HOTD, thought it was a great show, I know that everyones trying to make money off the Zombie thing right now, but hey, this was fun, and there was no holding back on the blood and gore either.
The Bluray release was fantastic and looks great on the big screen. :)
As far as the fanservice goes, that was what made the show, seriously, who didn't think that sniper was hot!....LOL.
Looking forward to season 2, the first season made a ton of money, they pretty much have to make another now.
Besides with " The Walking Dead " starting back up the opportunity to make money on the dead is far from over.

Frankly, I was more bothered by the use of a nail gun as a weapon to kill zombies from a distance than the fan service.

I find the following people are the ones bothered by ecchi fansservice:

1. Women and girls. (I can't blame them, I wouldn't much care for having male fanservice routinely shoved in my face). I expect this would likely apply to gays as well.

2. Prudes. (People have a right to be prudish if they want to be).

3. People that aren't really bothered by the ecchi, but are concerned about the perception of others; either someone that may see them viewing it, or because even if they don't view it, it lends to the perception of all anime as "that kind" of material.

4. People that are turned on by it, and and bothered by that.

Thankfully, I am a male, not prudish, learned decades ago to mostly ignore what others think I should do based on their opinion instead of logic, and either thanks to age and/or viewing perhaps too much porn when I was younger, I am far more likely to find ecchi humorous than titillating.

HOTD fulfilled the requirement of being entertaining, and the over the top ecchi made me chuckle more often than it made me groan.

If you think that makes me an idiot, you are entitled to your opinion. Just keep in mind that cuts both ways.

I do like zombie apocalypse themed anime/movie but I think the real selling point of HOTD is the fanservice(as most mangakas would normally do.) Consider fanservice as a form of magician's trick to mislead or distract the audience from the real problem.

If season 2 would have more tragedy and less fanservice then maybe I'll watch it to elevate my boredom.

If a few quick random peeks at the manga are any indication, don't expect that unless they decided to deviate from the manga.

I've read the mangaka for the series previously authored hentai manga, so it isn't unexpected that he would want to stay in his comfort zone. As there are two people involved in the production, however, I am not certain if this refers to only one or both.

There is no season 2 confirmed.
But there is an OVA.

Anything that involved zombies gets +3 points from me. Anything with more than "Below average" amounts of ecchi gets -2 points from me. So, HOTD gets a 6/10 for me.

I want more zombie animes. Ones that deal with the psychological effects of watching friends and family being murdered, and having all the main characters go crazy at one point and start to kill eachother off. The first half of the series will be focuses on a group of people surviving and adapting, and the second half will have them slowly lose it.

Well, that's my dream anime anyways. But it'll never happen...The market's still open for more crappy harems, mechas and shounens.

*sigh*. Why can't there be more shows like Gintama?
