Plot Synopsis:

The story takes place in Tokyo in 2039. After the outbreak of the unidentified virus "Lost Christmas" in 2029, Japan has been under the control of a multinational organization called GHQ. Ouma Shu is a 17-year-old boy who has a psychic power in his right hand. He can use the power "Ability of King" to extract tools or weapons from his friends. So finally, Code Geass season 3, ermmm I mean Guilty Crown! But seriously when I was watching it on livestream it did give MASSIVE CG vibes, will rewatch when subs are out. It was like reliving my teenage excitement back from when CG aired. For those of you who didn't know, the writer for GC is the same as CG.

Anyway, ep1 was very well done. Animation quality was superb, as expected of Production IG. And DAT music!!! Oh God why is supercell so brilliant!

So yeah for those of you who enjoyed Code Geass and FABULOUS, definitely give this a go.

Guilty Crown had one of the better first episodes I have seen so far. There was just enough action to keep eyes on the screen and feeds the audience just enough detail to keep the mind engaged. The animation is very well done; characters move fluidly and naturally making the world feel like more than just animated pixels on a screen. I will admit that the beginning of the episode had me rolling my eyes and sighing because it felt very much like every other high school boy gets great power in a world filled with mech suits. Don’t get me wrong it still feels that way at the end but director Tetsuro Araki knows how action is suppose to look. Heck, if he can make people writing at a desk look action packed you know the series is in good hands. Combine this with the incredible music and you are in for a real treat. It’s nice to finally have another show this season that I really want to see.

haha I didn't know it was by the code geass writer although that was one of the first anime series I was comparing it to while watching it (had that vibe about it).
I'm really looking forward to this series even more now.

The music was good, but the rest was just kinda... there..

I really just don't like the MC's voice actor - I've heard him in a couple roles but he just sounds weak to me, that said the other actors seem fine - But I don't really get what's going on and I gather i'm not really supposed to yet but.. I just don't feel anything from it so far. Animation was groovy but the pace and the character/organisation motivations probably need to be rectified fairly soon.

Bit of a disappointment for me, then again i'd gotten on the hype train for this so i'm mostly at fault here. Might as well give it a few more episodes at least

it was amazing for me, top notch, not bad for production IG, my one problem was at the end of the first episode where we swung his sword, i couldnt believe that a sword would beat that mech but that is just me

It's mind boggling how amazing I thought the first episode was. Will really be looking forward to the rest of this anime. In fact, I'm gonna go and rewatch the first episode on my HDTV right now. Woo!

First episode was really good. A little too cliche to call it great, though. Could be and hope it is but not there for me yet. A bit too reminiscent of Code Geass, frankly.

This anime pleasantly surprised me. The action and soundtrack in the first episode were great and the story seems like it has potential too especially if it came from the creator(s) of Code Geass. The main character kind of reminded me of Shinji Ikari but I think he'll grow past his wussiness.

As noted by everyone above me...the first episode was awesome. Great production, good script, tight editing and good VA work. It's on my must watch list for the season.

I finished watching the legal stream from NicoNico.com (720p with no ads), and it looks promising. I will be watching this one each week as it comes out.

I can certainly see why some people have made comparisons to Code Geass, although that has more to do with story elements in the first episode, not necessarily the plot itself.

It looked and sounded great, so props to Production IG, but even acknowledging that it's the first episode the story was a mess.
