As a first time cosplayer, all I can say is it is fun because you can meet a lot of people who want to take picture with you.

Please share your experience when you join the said event or went to the even just to see a cosplayers.

When I first cosplayed it was as Sakura from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles and everyone just loved it even the vendors loved it lol.

I love cosplaying because you get to meet people better that way in my opinion and its makes it easier for me to talk to people since I'm shy

I've only been talked into cosplaying once. Shin Seijuro off Eyeshield 21.
Odd experience, as i just didn't seem to be quite as into the whole, "look at me" thing, as other cosplayers. Never been into dressing up, or acting for that matter.
I do not have any real life friends into anime, let alone cosplay, so this was all with people i had met over the internet.

Making the costume was fun i guess. I had no experience with arts and crafts at that level, so i enjoyed it. Luckily my costume allowed me to improvise solutions, rather than sit down and straight up sew something. And i haven't seen a better replica of the full white knights game suit anywhere.

I probably wouldn't be opposed to do it again, provided it was the right character. Shin is in my top 3 favorite characters, and physically we are very similar, so it wasn't a tough choice.
But honestly, i'm probably too old, and too disconnected from free spirit it takes to fully commit to cosplay.

Felt really uncomfortable at first and frightened but then once you mingle with other cosplayers its fine and you don't feel so out of place on a train to London. I wish I had taken clothes to change into but then I'd be carrying a lot of stuff around and I didn't want that so I braved it until I met my friends. -__- Phoooof it was tough but once at the convention it was frickin awesome.

At first I used to insult cosplayers for being childish and immature. When I actually went to an anime convention, though, I realised how much fun everyone was having and it made me want to cosplay myself. Unfortunately I have nowhere near the level of creativity required.

The first and only time I cosplayed was when I dressed up as Squall from FF8. It was really a good and bad experience I never expected to get so much attention and even some hugs Granted it's a great way to meet people if you're on the shy side so great for the social aspect. I attended a convention at the University of Calgary. The hotel I stayed at was right on campus so I had to walk quite a ways to the convention. I actually walked through the sports center building to get there and man did I get some weird looks. It was my first time there so then I decided to just walk outdoors like most other cosplayers. You get less weird looks that way... And my costume was quite decent and convincing despite the fact I ordered it online from China That thing was death to wear in summer with it being nothing but fake leather. If I were to cosplay again I would make more smart choices with my costume hehe

If your going to a con in cosplay be prepared to get very little shopping done as you'll be mobbed for pics.
Go for 2 days, 1 in cosplay the second for shopping, otherwise there is a good chance you will miss out.

Go with a group, preferably other cosplayers who share your ideals.
your gonna get glomped, so now you have backup...LOL.

If you love to cosplay, you have to be creative in order to make a great armor, weapon, hairstyle, etc. it is expensive yet you are going to be happy with it,

LOL my first time!! i rode a public bus to the event and got stares, it was really uncomfortable!! then later in the day i found out that heaps of people just change into their costume in the toilets when they get there so i felt like a FAIL kid xD other cosplayers took cars so it was fine that they were already in costume. so thats my advice: if ur shy cuz ur face aint that thick yet, ride a car xD
