I can only read one part of it, and that's the part in the close up of the stamp.
It's says 気持風, which I think was meant to read be read as 気持ち風, which means "the wind feels good" (the hand writing is horrible, not to mention the picture's are sideways...)
But yea, I agree with andent, you should probably get a specialist to read this, modern Japanese is very different from what it was 70 years ago...

THAT IS AWESOME!!! I wish that could happen to me. It kinda/almost happened to me when i moved into a new house and we had to clean out the fire place and we found all these old newspapers and really cool old bottles that looked like something out of a victorian chemist. Worth nothing but still.
Then this other time my dad's friend found a safe in the floor of his garage and they are to get a safe cracker guy to come over and get it open. what did they find??? His grandfathers coin collection. NOT what everyone was hoping (we all went over to his place to see it opened).

Sorry i'm not very helpful. hope you figure out what it says soon!

I am Japanese, but i'm finding it hard to read because of a) the writers handwriting and b) the picture isn't clear enough. Could you try taking clearer photos of the first picture? Maybe in sections?

Edit: I could read some of it however...

This part says "Obon (japanese halloween) draws closer, but this year i don't think i will be able to come home. However..."

with clearer pictures i could help a lot more :/

Also the other side of the letter just has your average name and adress thing on.
The letter was sent to somewhere in Aichi, and is addressed to a Takeo Fuji (not too sure if this is right).

If you could get me a digital scan I can probably get it translated, since my Jap teacher is in her sixties and most likely has seen both old and new Japanese. If you want to send it to me, do it before mid-December because I go on break after.

I'd help but the fact that you used "A" instead of "AN" at every opportunity in the first sentence, turned my brains into scrambled rage. I will now leave this thread and never return.

Scanning this document would make much more sense than taking not very qualitative pics.

It looks to be Japanese from what limited knowledge I have of hiragana and katakana. Do you happen to know the history of this item or its place of origin? I can tell you that a majority is written in kanji but being that kanji isn't really my forte I can't help you there. This is quite the nice find for any historian or collector. If your lucky it could have a deep history.

Take these into the Asian culture threads (probably not Vietnamese or Tagalog), see if you get a hit.

This is Japanese. You should look for someone whoi can understand the language.

It looks to be Japanese as I can see some familiar Hiragana in there. (Ku to be precise)
As to what it actually says I have no idea since I can hardly make out the individual characters. That and I have an incredibly limited knowledge of Japanese characters anyway.

I think the guy fucking knows it's Japanese.

Are you alright? Take a deep breath. Better yet, take a little break from the forums. This isn't about you, but you went through too much trouble compiling all this; you shouldn't let it affect you so much.

you're not helping him out.
he knows it's Japanese, how about you take a break from trying to boost your ego and CR points.
And it certainly isn't about you, it's about him.
