Last Exile: Fam the Silver Wing

Fam is part of the Sky Pirates, a group that assaults ships following the code of the First harpoon -the first to hit the target with a harpoon has the right to decide how to proceed on the assault-. They target minor vessels and prosper on an isolated location, until one day they take off for a mission that will change their lives and for all Turan Kingdom citizens by rescuing their 2 princess from Ades Federation betrayal.

I already like the characters and the visuals were fantastic.
This is easily my favorite show of the season so far.

Couldnt find any topic on this, but has anyone seen the first episode of this? I just watched it on some random streaming site; couldnt find it on Funimation.

It looks to be about as epic and beautiful as the original, cant wait to see more of it. Beautiful animation, sound, music, all of it just had my glued to my tv. :)
You could have watched the episode here: http://video.niconico.com/watch/1318850805

Anyway, I loved the first episode. It was excellent. I am excited for the next episodes to come.

While it was strongly implied he fell from the vanship, we didn't actually see him fall.

I still have my old DVR recording of the episodes from when the original series aired on TechTV, so reviewed that scene again. The vanship suddenly turns upward, and he is ejected from the cockpit. When the scene cuts, he is going out of frame, but is still above the "tail" of the vanship (and thus could have caught it on his way down). Hopefully we will have an explanation of what exactly happened during this series.

Just finished the episode on NicoNico. It was excellent!

On Dio returning from the grave. I think the confusion is because the official art book, which as far as I know was never officially translated (or even scanlated), flat out stated Dio was alive and met up with everyone after the events of the series. I am not sure yet if there is an actual official time frame this takes place after the first series.

I saw older versions of Tatiana and Alister in the OP (around 2:50) so I would say yes.

By the way, Funimation is actually has the simulcast on their site right now if anyone was wondering.

I was almost certain that he died but after reading your post and going back to check, it's true that they didn't explicitly show him falling to his death. Although it would be pretty weird if he grabbed on since he was emotionnally distressed at the time over the loss of Luciola and he seemed to be completely out of it during that scene.

Anyway, so many questions, so few answers. I'm impressed by the character designs and the CGI isn't half bad either. If Gonzo can deliver a decent plot then this may be a success.
