What is the deal with the lack of Japanese dramas on this site? Seriously?
I think a lot of people were able to adapt and get over the fact that all the free dramas disappeared from the site; I personally was appeased when I saw the quality of what crunchyroll began to offer. I just think that after this long period of time there should be more titles. If there are a combined 11+ pages of Chinese and Korean dramas why is there only 1 for Japanese? It is not even like the titles in the Japanese section are so amazing that you forgive crunchyroll. Death Kappa? That is something I show on a bad movie night with my friends for laughs.....

So I am basically just curious as to why? Is there even an effort(Death Kappa being in there really pushed me overboard) ? Is there a reason that has already been stated?

And with all that said do not misunderstand, I like this site and I am positive it is harder to run than I know so this is not me being unappreciative. I am just curious at this point. It has been years after the change and I still find myself curious when an actual J drama will be available to stream.... so I figured it was about time to inquire. It is just a little disappointing when you see new Korean/Chinese dramas with good quality and subs being uploaded regularly, but when you check the only section for dramas you like and there is nothing.

Well, a part of it is indeed their funds, and it makes sense for them to invest in anime before dramas. Even though I have an All-Access membership due to a previous deal, I still have not set aside time to check out any dramas. I have been completely content with the large library of anime here, particularly going through catalog shows like Oreimo right now. So I haven't really had a need for any more.

That doesn't however answer why there is a selection of K-drama and not J-drama. Though one thing is certain, if they'd pick up Kamen Rider, I'd have to watch it in showing of my support XD

Haha yeah I really like the selection for anime, and I am positive if I was a korean drama fan I would love this site even more....but as it stands I just kind of want a site where I can watch Japanese dramas in GOOD quality. Mysoju is terrible because it depresses me to watch grainy shows...I have high standards for my eyes LOL

Used to watch a lot of Japanese dramas incompletely. Serious. CR was full of them back when I was still thirteen. Good old days, not that I really did anything in here but talk to people. But certainly, it would be nice to gain some more Japanese dramas, not only Japanese dramas, but other ones as well. And right, Mysoju has terrible quality.

I'm no expert on this sort of thing, but in my time spent here and on other sites and in the real world, it seems like Korean dramas are just more popular than Japanese ones. Heck, while I was in Japan, I couldn't find Japanese dramas on TV very easily; just Korean ones with subs, dubbed in Japanese, or raw.

My guess is that anime comes first, since that's what Crunchy has always been known for and that's what the largest fanbase here wants, K-dramas come second because of their popularity everywhere, and J-dramas are last in line. If Crunchy were able to get movies more easily, I bet we'd have a ton of Japanese movies that weren't just cheesey horror and such.

It may also just be easier to get the rights to show Korean dramas than it is to show Japanese ones, but I don't know.

Like I said, I'm no expert. lol
