It's easy, here's what you do.

Pick a seat, not the driver seat. You're not driving. Get in, sit down, buckle up, and sit there.

.......... dude stop being sarcastic. i meant i don't know how to drive a car.

I do a little drifting with my crappy little Honda civic, not professionally but when I'm in such a hurry and have to get somewhere in less than 5 minutes, which is often times. It's harder though to drift in a front-wheel drive car. I'm planing to get a Rx-7 pretty soon.

IVE BEEN IN A CIVIC THAT HAS BEEN ABLE TO DRIFT BEFORE JUST THAT MY FRIENDS CIVIC ISNT CRAPPY. ITS REALLY COOL! BUT THE CIVIC IS A HATCHBACK I THINK IT IS THE OLDER ONES. BUT DRIFTING IS AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE YOU JUST HAVE TO SEE FOR IT YOURSELF.
MY DREAM CAR WOULD BE A CIVIC SO I HOPE TO GET THAT THOUGH IT SEEMS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE.
WELL THATS MY INPUT.

Wonder why people think they can drift in front drivers. When I was younger I frequented the canyon roads a lot near my house. If my tires are past half-life than I lose traction on some turns and have to counter-steer, it's drifting but not intentionally. I probably couldn't do it intentionally with good tires though, at least not with my car that's got a shot power steering pump.

I'd have to say if you think drifting is a slower way to go then you haven't visited any mountain passes. There are way too many turns way too frequently to take advantage of the standard track car and driver. You definitely have to adopt a different driving style than a nascar racer. You don't have to drift but there are some turns where it's definitely a consideration.

im sorry but drifting in a civic isnt a real drift, so why dont you try getting in a real drift car, not that civic or accord or any fwd for that matter maybe you should feel how a real drifter does it. lol

yea that is true, but when you have mountain passes that keep changing is very difficult its better that you grip though it, some apex/hairpins it would be easier/faster to drift than trying grip it and understeer trying

good thing this isn't a car forum. half these ridiculous comments about drifting FWD civics or what not would result in FLAME!

and the only drift racing i see in so.cali are held at events. they dont EXIST anymore in the mountain passes due to idiot initial d kids blowing up the scene. trust me i've witness many cars fly off the canyon and i myself had many close calls.

hehe and myself in some local socal area...pretty good layout, if you can get down a manjee than this course is somewhat easy (besides the fact if you shoot your drift out too far you can go over) yea i stopped going to the stupid mountains so many people are dumb up there, whatever so now i only go to track events which are held almost every week

Powersliding, drifting, almost losing control, and hydroplaning are four totally different things.

Ask anyone who actually drifts or studies drifting and isn't blinded by initial D or videogames. You can't drift in Civics.

I wish you luck in getting your civic.

In that case, i stand corrected. I wish you luck in the Rx7.

as for drifting a civic, sure, it's possible... if you modify it to be rear wheel drive (which i do admit i have seen done...with an over $45,000 budget...)

you can't drift a fwd car. What you experienced was more than likely powersliding or him just almost losing control. Everyone here will give you the same answer as me (exception is if they're trying to impress you by making you think they can drift, which might give them a chance to get in your pants).
