during ice racing you pretty much do nothing but drift the entire time on dry roads unless your doing a mountain run with nothing but cut backs drifting would be slower than properly taking the corner without wheel slip. but like i said unless the course demands you to slide the corners because they can't be taken at speed it'd be a waste to drift. the other place you'll see serious drifting is in rally racing because the roads are not as good for harsh breaking your better off getting the body of the car to slide around the corner and as your about to point in your final direction allow the tires to grip again but its a big risk because lots of rally drivers end up over shooting and slide off the outside of the curve.
