This is like my worst fear, to suddenly die and no one know about it.

it's a troll

and secondly, the guy is 51-year old. Just maybe his family had already left the nest and the wife died or divorced.

Unless you're supposed to be somewhere important and you don't inform about missing it, people won't in most cases start missing you just if you're gone by few days. Couple of weeks is more accurate. Age differences matter though.

It's a obvious troll though, no sane co-worker would just not think about why someone doesn't move or just "deal with the smell"

But it's a good reminder that it's good to have friends, who in the end are useless as hell, but at least if you go missing in action during forest hiking, someone knows to search for you there

Doubt it since he's dead.

Maybe they work in a very cold environment, thus his body never started to decompose? Explains why one person has to work so much as well, can't pay the fire bill.

That's true. Depending on the environment, the body decomposes at a certain rate. Reading the article, this happened in New York. Around this time of year there average high is 65°F (18°C) and average low about 50°F (10°C). It would have to been at least -15°C/-25 °C (5°/-13°F) for the body to stop decomposing. During this time of year, I seriously doubt it's gotten that cold.

Eh, there's just too many missing pieces to this story.

There's also the fact that the office building was probably heated for those five days

very odd, im guessing noone really cared about him or questioned why he was always in the same position. everyone in that office should be ashamed of themselves though i cant say this is the first story ive read about someone being dead in a public place and nobody noticing...in New York

I found it funny that nobody caught that last line and told the guy not to write that. I guess he is right.
