Edit: Introducing the Crunchyroll Fantasy Football League! Surely there must be some avid fantasy football players out there. If you've never really tried it though, now's your chance. It's fun. Go to fantasy.premierleague.com if you haven't already, sign up and pick your team. Once you're finished, go to the "leagues" section and choose to join a private league. The code is 177903-190463. Last season we only had 3 members joining. </3 Can't be 'aving that, ayayay.

So, anyone following the football (soccer) world will probably know about the English Premier League. Arguably the greatest football competition in the world (besides the world cup), it has certainly been mentioned with that title.

Anyways, I just wanna know what you guys think of it. What team do you support? What do you think about english football? What're your predictions for the season, and what do you think of other leagues such as the Bundesliga or La liga?

I'm sorry the post is a bit late but considering it's in the sports section of CR, it's no surprise. Glad to see you're a fan though, Carbo. I support Arsenal which is always a very popular and chic choice but for some reason it just feels right. I read arseblog.com/ and it really is some of the funniest shit ever.

Anyway, at the moment, it looks like the Manchester clubs are running away with it but there are always chances to drop points and the field is stronger than ever (Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and my Gunners of course). Don't forget the upcoming Euros too but I agree, the EPL is the best football league in the world and one of it's finest sporting and engrossing competitions. I just wish MLS would follow suit and institute the same financial rules and relegation and it would quickly turn into a very strong league.

Recently I read the comments from C. Ronaldo comparing La Liga to other leagues in Europe but especially the EPL, in that he said La Liga was more technical and generally better but all it is is a two horse race. Though it has to be said that they're very very fine horses and probably the two best teams in the world right now. Of course, I like supporting Japanese players and really like watching Dortmund play in Germany and hopefully they can give Munich a run for their money! Plus, I have a soft spot for Roma in the Serie A but every season it seems like they have just a few too many weaknesses to win the Scudetto (similar to Arsenal, haha).

Plus, I just saw City lost to Sunderland... WOW.

Oh, now that's a reply I was waiting for.

Yeah, I have to agree with most of what you said, especially about La Liga. For me though, when it comes to German football, I'm more of a Werder Bremen fan than Dortmund, since the German side of my family actually comes from Bremen.

So yeah, Man City lost to Sunderland, United lost to Blackburn (at Old Trafford, for christ's sake), Chelsea also lost at home to Villa, Tottenham dropped 2 points, and Arsenal was the only successful team out of the big 5. I reckon any team outside of Manchester only has a chance of getting third, though.

You gotta feel for me though...you know Wigan, right? Almost guaranteed relegation the way they're playing and the terrible form they're in. Well I'm a Stoke supporter, see. You know them too, right? Often said to have one of the best defensive lines in the EPL, and one of the best home records? We drew 2 - 2 to Wigan at home. Felt terrible, that day. It seems that all the underdogs have dominated this week's matches.

Good luck to Arsenal though, they're my favourite team besides my local one, and Van Persie is miles better than Rooney.

I'm fairly well-versed in English football so I do know teams outside of the top of the table of the EPL. Plus, I see you're from Stoke so that only makes sense and it really was a fabulous weekend for Arsenal wasn't it?

You know, I almost mentioned Bremen or even Shalke because I really like a lot of players on all those teams but I just picked the one I felt should get more recognition based on how well they've been playing recently.

Aside from the players and the physical prowess, the parity is the other thing that makes the Premier League so strong and attractive a competition. The lower teams can beat teams at the top any day of the week! For the past few years it was inevitable that Arsenal would lose a few of those games a year, but then again, every team does through the course of the campaign. At least you thankfully beat Spurs a few weeks back and you're still playing in Europe so it all is not lost. Good luck to you guys as well (excluding Shawcross of course, heh).

Where do you go to get a lot of your news?

Shawcross? Why, he would never break a leg- I MEAN, hurt a fly!

Stoke actually have Valencia next in the Europa, so that'll be our first tough game, I guess. We got lucky with our group draw, but these knock-out stages will really test them, what with the teams being relegated from the champion's league like City. But I really hope Arsenal can beat Milan in February, they deserve it.

As for where I get my news from...well, I live in England, don't I? Football news is on every single sports channel almost all day, it's on the regular news, it's always in the newspapers, and people are forever talking about transfer rumors. I mostly just use websites though, stoke-specific ones which contain news about all teams aswell.

I don't hate the guy some like other Arsenal fans but I sure as hell don't like him either. Plus, horrific plays like that are part and parcel of the game. They just happen to Arsenal players way too much so I can't help but feel slightly indignant.

Excluding the overabundance of news in general, we get our news the same way. I was just wondering if you followed it closely or just said fuck all to it. Yeah, Valencia have always been a quality side, even after losing Villa, Silva and Mata, so a tough task indeed.

Podolski to Arsenal, hell yeah! Anyway, I always like playing teams from Italy or Spain so hopefully Arsenal find themselves through after March 6.

I like Podolski. The German international team is one of my favourites, so it would be brilliant to see him live the next time Arsenal visit Stoke. And I hear that Theirry Henry, one of my favourite players of all time, is going back to arsenal on a short loan. That's probably the best sports news I've heard this season. But a little known news article is that Mario Balotelli's younger brother actually has a high chance of signing with Stoke City after playing a few trials with the reserve team. That also caught my attention quite a bit, because if he's anything like his brother, then we've caught a big one.

Oh, and just wondering, have you ever come to England to see Arsenal play? Or have they ever played a friendly against an American team which you went to?

I'm glad to see Henry back and if we combine him with RVP and Podolski. Whoa, I think we could break down any defense!

How old is he? Hopefully he's not as narcissistic as his brother though (even though he is extremely talented).

Never been. I'd love to though. I don't think Arsenal have had preseason sessions in the States recently like United and City have. The MLS team, Sporting Kansas City, I support did beat Manchester United though a few years back. YES!

His name is Enoch Balotelli and I believe he's only 19 years old. The gaffer is also trying to land a deal with a 17 year old aswell, which is refreshing, since we always go for older players.

Congrats to your team for beating United, by the way. I dislike them quite a bit, so hearing that an American team (generally thought of as average teams to most people I know) wiped the smile off Fergie's face.

RVP, Podolski and Henry is rather threatening side. I don't recall Arsenal's current formation, but if they're going for 3 up front, then the rest of the top teams are going to have to stop underestimating them just because of the shaky start they had.

Because really, Arsenal are an amazing side, nearly all of their team can playmake, but they just can't find goals sometimes.

By the way, we might have to create a CarboKill and kufirst's Premier League Talk thread in That Awesome Group, haha.

Anyway, it's really telling that as a Stoke fan you think 19 is young because of course 19 is a fairly normal age for an Arsenal player, haha. I mean we introduced Fabregas and Wilshere at age 16 and Walcott at 17 which is insane if you really think about it but it's usually worked out extremely well. So ironically it's refreshing when we're linked with older players! Wenger employs a 4-3-3 because he's constantly attacking on the brain.

Is the junior Balotelli a forward as well?

Aha, CarboKill and Kufirst's Premier League Talk? Now that would be splendid :P

Trust me though - to anyone who isn't an Arsenal fan, 19 is young xD I think 21, maybe 22, or younger would class someone as a young player. I mean, at Stoke, anyone under 30 is young Currently on the shopping list is a 31 year old left back from Bolton...I'm guessing he'll be around for 3 seasons if he's good and then retire. Tony Pulis' excuse is that "We look to find more experienced and mature players." We actually have 10 youths loaned out to Tier 2 and 3 teams, leaving all the old folks for our first team, heh.

Something which I'd like to ask you is were you at all bothered when Fabregas left? Because he seemed to me like the best player in the squad at the time, but Arsenal fans who I've met don't seem to care that much. And while we're still talking about Arsenal, I'd like to mention that I'm a strong disliker of Wenger haters. He's done an amazing job with the club, and definitely deserves an award.

Yep, Junior is also a forward.

As forthcoming as it was, I was pretty distraught when he left. I mean after Thierry left and with RVP out with various injuries he literally carried the team for 4 years and might be my favorite player considering I only started following Arsenal since 2006 or so. While I generally loathe the twats at Barca especially how they tapped up trying to bring Fabregas home, since he rejoined them I actually cheer for them because I think Fab was such a class act and I really do wish him all the best.

As manager of Arsenal and someone who is so completely distinctive from almost every other manager in English football he gets scrutinized unfairly. He has weaknesses and is about as stubborn as an old mule, but he has done an amazing job since starting in 1996. It doesn't appear to be the case but I would be pretty upset if left under anything other than own volition and the best circumstances.

Well it's half past two in the morning here, so as you can imagine, I'm tired as hell so I'll be going now. Thank you for the interesting posts though. It's been a while since I've actually had a decent discussion about football.

That was the FA Cup not the Barclay's Premier League. Heh.
