H-Grade Pencils

HB and 2B are soft, 2B being softer than HB. They smudge way too easily. You dont want that when you are drawing. Unless you like gray stains all over your art.

Anyway I think the point of my post was missed...

Ecchi is the pronunciation of "H" in Japanese.

I see what you did there.

About the smudging: you need a can of fixer for when you're done, and try to save using the softer pencils for end touches, that way you won't have such a smudge issue. The H pencils won't be able to deliver proper contrast, and if you try, you'll put a hole in your paper. It's the deep darkness of pupils and dimples and crevices that makes a drawing that much more voluptuous and sensual. Without it, there's no impact, it just looks washed out.

I'm no artist so I wouldn't know. I can draw blob people and cute fluffy animals though for which I use anything to hand.

I have several H and others for art but my most usage for drawing is a mechanical pencil.
I use anything that is below a .5mm lead ^__^
here's the picture of the one I got.

When I did use varied pencils, my ecchi pencil was least used. I'd use it for about the first 10% of getting the initial proportions, but from there one it was too hard and light for detailing I would be comfortable with. For anime drawings at least. But I have since made an effort to go all digital.
